Why we lose.
Because, when something as heinous as, let's say, suppressing or stealing elections happens, we become insensed, we demand our "democratically" elected officials correct this unconstitutional behavior, and never allow it to happen again.

And that, to me, is the problem. When our opposition tests their immoral behavior to see if it floats, and we do nothing more than get angry, they have a winner. If we did what the founding fathers expected from us, the opposition would be crushed.

2. Why we really lose: We are the underdog, hounded by bullies
with loads of power and money. They seem to always win. They mock us so the press is afraid to listen to us. They control the message with all their money and power.

12. TV News is a 24 hour advertisement for Bushites.
They attract them with the latest murder, then spread propaganda during the opinion and news shows. They mainly change the subject off the devious bills they are voting on in Washington.

Did anyone hear on Fox what the Bushites were voting on last week? They don't want to debate the Bushite bills. They want to distract us. They voted in a 2 inch thick pension reform bill.

14. I wish that were true. If it were, we could overcome that.
We (The Democratic Party, not us) has just as much, if not more $$, and have a significant amount of power as well. What we lack is the will to oppose. To do that would mean big changes that the current power structure doesn't want. I think this is very like what we saw happen in '68 and '72, when the real conflict was between The People that, as usual, favored real change, and the Democratic establishment, the power brokers. They won before and it's starting to look like they will win this one too.

To paraphrase Chomsky; "These are not stupid people, if they are doing something over and over, year after year, and not achieving the stated results, it's because they are achieving what they really want".

4. sadly, we have been programed to depend on our
systems of checks and balances to correct the illegal, unconstitutional, corrupt and thieving leaders swiftly and justly through congress and the senate. we expose the crap, they eliminate it in a perfect America. Today we are living in the twilight zone and by now we should be in a revolution sweeping away the fungus on Pennsylvania Avenue.

fucking sad

5. I have no faith in the system, or the voters
Five Supreme Court justices appointed the president of their choice in 2000. Four years later, voters were given the option of reversing this travesty. Instead they chose to validate it.

9. That's the point
We are the democrats who should be crushing Bushco. Elected officials are way out of their league when it comes to overthrowing tyranny.

15. For the sake of sensibilities
let's just say that the reaction to tyrannical tendancies should be powerful. Tyrants always use intimidation to remain in power. Unless we demonstrate real opposition, they will ignore and defeat us.

7. Leadership would help
Most of us are law abiding people and aren't into strong rebellion. We need stronger leaders that will stand up for us.

Another reason we lose is profanity. I live in the Mid West and most people are highly insulted when a man says profane words in front of a woman. Profanity is an indication of deep hostility. It takes away from any debate.

Another reason we lose is those who aren't religious aren't satisfied to just not be religious, they feel like they have to call us ignorant for our Christian beliefs. It doesn't bother me, I know the truth and the truth is that Jesus is our saviour. I am sure there are Christians that need to be sassed, but it should not be a blanket statement that we are dumb.

13. Yep, it would.
Leadership is not a dirty word. It is not a word that means Authoritarian, Fascism, War-Lording, Hell.

Leadership is needed.

But MysteryToMyself: uh. Profanity has jackSHIT to do with our current Constituional Crisis. Law abiding? Is the Prezledent LAW ABIDING? Uh, NO. According to the ruling the other day by the Federal Courts. So WTF?

what do you have in mind?

I mean, beyond what many of us are doing already (donating, volunteering, campaigning, etc)?

24. Sorry, I was trying to convey
what is the opposite of bowing to the king, using humor. Seriously, do what you're already doing. What more can someone do? I get inspired by people who protest very loud. But that's not for everyone. There is no one answer to solve the corruption.

18. We are losing due to the DLC
The major distractions in our party and any splits within are due to this foul group.
Feingold is the model we should emulate. That would be sheer unstoppable power in its unadorned truthful simplicity.

22. I think....
that the bus is being driven by industry...that the constitution was usurped a long time ago, when persons became corporations. The fact that we still cling to the notion that our 'elected' officials work for us or even our country is telling.
