I mean, I know these action thriller films are fictional, but you have to be sort of naive to not know that you are never going to be truly anonymous on the internet.

8. A difference between anonymity and being tracked...

Seems to me there's a big difference between expecting anonymity and being tracked for merely visiting a public website. It's absurd that citizens of this country would ever have to wonder whether or not they've become a target of tracking or investigation by their own government for merely accessing a government information portal, especially that of the White House--supposedly the "people's house" (as well as being one of the cogs in the Bush historical/propaganda matrix).

It's certainly time to reread "1984" <--a link to an online copy of the book, "1984", by George Orwell.
