Toddler Found Drunk
http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=nation_world&id=3766976

The child consumed enough alcohol to register a blood alcohol level of .094%... higher than the legal limit for adults to drive.

Toddler parents were at the hospital having another baby when this happened!
Babysitter should be in jail for a while for this!

2. Sometimes a first-born ...
... just can't handle the arrival of a baby brother or sister without a few belts.

As for the quote: "... blood alcohol level of .094%... higher than the legal limit for adults to drive," thank God the babysitter had the intellectual wherewithal to hide the keys to the SUV.

3. Certainly not condoning... but I know my grandmother.....
would give my sister and I a hot toddy (which I believe had bourbon or run) in it when we had colds of colic as children... Now, I doubt we ever really took in enough to be drunk, but this was not considered unusual or "bad" in any way to that generation. Obviously, it is not condoned in this day, but things have changed.

9. Did you read this part of the article?
"Police say the two-year old was having difficulty standing, had bloodshot eyes, wreaked of alcohol, and was lethargic. The babysitter was found passed out."
That babysitter belongs in jail for child endangerment.
And I realize he is the relative of the parents, but they really should think who they leave their children with.

5. The 5 year old daughter of a friend of mine got hold of a mixed drink...
...when the adults weren't looking. It was a Christmas party, and the little girl drank what she thought was her mom's glass of orange juice. She got silly drunk. They made her eat and they walked her around for about an hour. Then they put her to bed and just kept an eye on her for the night. She was fine the next morning but her mom is still suffering guilt pangs. The parents are actually very responsible. It was just one of those things.

7. A similar situation happened to me when I was 2 1/2
To this day, I don't like the taste of alcohol, or the way it makes me feel. I think that early experience traumatized me!

6. My first drunk was at the age of 3
My folks were at a party and I wouldn't sleep. Cute little thing sipping just a taste out of everyone's drink.

8. At that weight level, It probably wouldn't take more than a swallow or two
for a small child to register a level like that.

13. "Parents at hospital having another baby when this happened"
..and the babysitter they got for the toddler was drunk.

My aunt and uncle had 4 children. When it was time for her to go have the 4th, they called a cab. He stayed home with the other kids until he could find someone responsible to keep them.

I know not everyone can afford a cab, however... but maybe he could've put the toddler in his car seat and then driven like mad to the hospital? I mean, going into labor when you already have other very young children is nothing new. They should have thought this out better in advance.
