Most people do not think it was a banner year.

1. For the US, it wasn't as bad as 2003

when the US made its worst foreign policy mistake in history. All in all--still pretty bad.

2. As I recall 2003 though, we didn't lose any major cities. I think

that needs to be factored in.

3. Depends if you value our collective suffering

(which was largely the result of a random event) more than that we voluntarily inflicted on other people. Methinks the latter is worse.

4. They maybe should have a poll where folks rank the years of

this century so far. All of them sucked.
