Could this all be part of a ruse, maybe even involving Bush? 3 Senator's block torture (why not ALL Senators one might ask) 2 block FDA pick...I can't help but think this is all just to say: "America doesn't need two parties, we in the GOP can take care of it, see, we stand up to Bush when he's wrong."

Then, next January, it's back to normal and we kiss social security goodbye and say hello Iran?

You can also make a three-year chart for US averages here - http://www.illinoisgasprices.com/retail_price_chart.aspx - and see the same.

In fact this year gas prices began dropping in the beginning of August, not September.

There's nothing magical about September according to these charts.
