Why Aren't Moderate Repubs Publicizing "Goldwater Moments"??

...It would seem to me that moderate Repubs would need to re-educate their party's voters if they are ever going to have a chance to be in power.

The average Repub today has no knowledge of the original 'conservative' philosophy that Goldwater put forth.(ie. smaller government, less government power and intrusion into private affairs, etc).

If they ran ads like a public service announcement, voters on the right might rediscover what embracing the original 'conservative' philosophy is all about. ANd when faced with all of these rightwing conservative fundamentalist Repub candidates, they just might find more in common with the Dem/Progressive candidates than with the Repub candidates on the ballot.

Buckley made a similar argument, suggesting that Repubs need to be turned out of power, so I cannot take credit for this as an original idea.

Otherwise, there is no place for moderate repubs in the Republican Party today, and the only place they can stand is in "independent land" which means they will have no real direct political power.
