BREAKING: MSNBC APOLOGIZES FOR TWEETY, IMUS', AND MCGUIRK BASHING OF GAYS
<snip>Gay-rights activists are blasting Don Imus and sidekick Bernard McGuirk as gay-bashers, Last week, when fellow MSNBC talker Chris Matthews asked Imus if he'd seen the cowboy love story "Brokeback Mountain," Imus sneered, "Why would I want to see that?" He added that McGuirk had his own name for the movie — a crude candy reference we'll skip. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation called the "slurs" a "juvenile display of homophobia." MSNBC has apologized for the banter. …<snip>

1. i still like imus

I think he says a lot of wild things just to evoke reaction. He's a radio jocky!

Go ahead and attack me, but I see more parody in the Imus show than not.

8. I always end up wondering...

...why I don't feel "guilty" liking a few things that aren't "politically correct." IMO, Imus gives all sides of the spectrum time to talk. When I feel I have one of the guys pegged, they surprise me.

In real life, no one is "pure." You take the good with the bad and try to make sense of it.

Basically I think Imus is a liberal guy, admittedly of a different generation. I don't think he would do harm to anyone if he could.

13. So calling gays 'fudgepackers' doesn't bother you?
That's 'parody' to you?

19. Well....ok....

..it was stupid. But it was also maybe 5 seconds of the show.

I'm not defending it. I'm offended by other things in the show occassionally, but I still like the show.

The most conservative guy on the show - the bald, skinny guy also said that the drug companies should just give medicine to old people for free.

22. The thing I don't get is
straight people have anal sex all the time. I've seen more than a few studies which show that 50% or more engage in it.

So why doesn't anyone call THEM "fudgepackers"?

He just strikes me as pissy and mean spirited as opposed to just a shock jock type trying to jerk people's chains.

7. I like him too !
He can be refreshingly honest in his crankiness. I enjoy his politcal interviews from both sides too !

Can't stand that Bernie, or that very unfunny "impersonator", he needs to get rid of those a'holes.

31. Bernie and the impersonator are the true base of Imus

They are suppose to represent the "real men." --- ha

They make some awful slurs on Blacks and then he pretends to like Harold Ford.

Harold Ford kisses his butt because he wants to be a Senator.

One day, they will let him know what they really think of him ~ same thing they think of Al Sharpton and Jesse.

They are all wimps.

Imus is a cocaine "free"so called cowboy.

He is a phony.
He lives in too many glass houses to throw a stone at ANYBODY.

Yes he does have guests on representing all points of view, that I will say for him.

I bet they all donate a pretty penny to his ranch to get on and sell their latest books.

Andrea Mitchell, Russert, they all whore for their books.

The bald reflector head guy (the young one, not the one who wears all the wigs) I don't know his name but he's a real nazi. either way, i don't watch the show or listen on the radio anymore. Wash Journal is on at the same time and there is always Air America on the radio.

So the reference is lost on the Public.

Homophobes fear/hate what they are ATTRACTED to.

4. Imus is a jerk of the highest order

and so is Tweety.

They should be made to apologize, MSNBC didn't do it.

Every time I see the program they are bashing gays.

So mean.

He was a junkie on cocaine and still may be for all we know.

What right does he have to talk down to anyone.

He is a whore.

24. I recently stopped watching the show for good.
I like the guests on the show, and I like the questions that Imus puts to them. It makes for an interesting morning show. But I was so turned off by McGuirk's ugly comments (not, by the way, anything to do with gays that day, but something about his hatred for Clinton), I decided that I could no longer be part of their viewership. I know it won't make a bit of difference in the ratings, but at least I feel better about not personally supporting the jerk.

25. And don't forget, Imus calls Olbermann gay too,
simply because he's never been married. Nothing like using your own prejudices to jump to conclusions about people, is there? He also calls him "fat" and says everyone else at MSNBC hates him. But Imus pretty much has something bad to say about everyone else at MSNBC. He seems to think he's the only decent person on the whole staff.

26. Entirely insufficient. What a dreadful disappointment MSNBC is.

Only sacking him is sufficient.

The only response to this kind of bigotry is to stamp it out ruthlessly.

27. I like Imus....
I think his 'role' is to be profane and confrontational. I also think he brings up some things that are good also such as the situation with returning soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital. When he gets on a rant though, there is no stopping him. I am a pretty devout Catholic and think Bernard's take-off on Cardinal Eagan is hilarious.

30. Imus is a disgrace, a pandering old fool that talks about people
behind their backs.

He didn't have that much to say about the run up to the Iraq war.....didn't seem to take one side or the other.

I do remember him calling the anti-war demonstrators names, and making fun of their anti-war efforts.

Now he is trying to use his bully pulpit to raise money for the new veterans re-hab hospital.

He still hasn't been a forceful voice hammering for the Americans to bring home the troops, but gee wiz he sure wants to see them well taken for after they have been torn to bits.

Imus has it backward, always has, he needs to hang it up.
