FOLEY BOMBSHELL: "Foley's The Victim"
Its the Rush Limbaugh approach to addiction:

If you're a liberal, then you're a drug addict.
If you're a conservative, you need rehab and prayers.

2. Foley had the best medical insurance our taxpayer $$$ could buy.
He knew he had a problem, but apparently never sought treatment. It was too much fun talking dirty to young boys.

There's a song running through my head, and I need some musical accompaniment: :nopity:

10. they have seriously 'misunderestimated' the American people.
Parents, Democratic ones or Republican ones are just NOT that stupid. This will most decidedly not work.

12. It has to be noted that the lawyer said he doesn't know if it was a
priest. The lawyer said there are 138 religions in the world and he was going to specify which one.

13. I'll tell you what REALLY pissed me off
The lawyer got to the end of his spiel and said "And he wants you to know.....(pause for dramatic effect)...he is a gay man..."

The ploy was so freaking obvious. Mr. and Mrs. Red State were supposed to fill in the blank at the end of that sentence with "...so obviously he can't possibly control himself around young boys."

It was preying upon ignorance, pure and simple. It leaned heavily on the all the old homophobic prejudices. His gay demons, we are expected to believe, will inevitably overcome his better self and force him to act inappropriately with young boys. GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! Never mind that there are NO reputable studies showing gays are any more likely to go after an underage teenager than straights are.

And I'll tell ya' what else really pisses me off. This insistence that he never touched any of them. I find it difficult to believe, but so what if he didn't? Granted, physically molesting a young person is worse than verbally molesting them, but as the mother of a young man who was the recipient of unwanted sexual attention from an authority figure, I can tell you that attention is pretty freaking traumatic long before there's any physical contact. We already know that's true. That's what half the outrage over sexual harassment of adults addresses - the balance of power between the harasser and the harassee. Add in the fact that in this case the harassee is a teenager, with all the uncertainty and insecurity that besets us in adolescence.

GAWD, I'm pissed. HOW DARE THIS PIECE OF HUMAN DETRITUS TRY TO MAKE HIMSELF THE VICTIM???? HOW DARE HE MINIMIZE HIS BEHAVIOR???
