Bella Update VI - Operation return to the Constitution
Okay, so at some point last night, the attorneys for all of the women being moved to Atlanta (it was Atlanta it turns out) this round, filed ana emergency injunction/stay. Apparently members of Congress also joined in, but I cannot get any confirmation on who it was yet. The women were returned to Monroe. Ha!!!!!

They are having an emergency hearing, the lawyers as a group (if you can believe that) on Friday in front of a judge. They are demanding that ICE officials either charge their clients or release them.

I also found out that many women have already been transported out of state. I presume, although I do not know, that they are the ones who either don't have good attorneys or fell through the cracks. I don't know. According to Bella, there are women she is being held with who were never convicted of a crime, ever. They are simply legal residents.

Here is the kicker... ICE did not adequately prepare (because no one could have imagined) for facilities while rounding up all of these people, which they continue to do. The argument they are using to move the detainees is that there is overcrowding, which is true. But there is overcrowding because they are warehousing people in large numbers, some of whom committed a crime in the past, not even a felony, some of whom committed a felony in the past (like 40 years ago even), and some who committed no crime at all. But Bella tells me that there are no illegal aliens in her "program," which leads to ask the obvious, why the fuck not?

Anyway, these people being held, especially the women have had their children taken by the state. They have lost their jobs because they have either been detained far too long or because their employers did not want the controversy. When one loses a job, one loses the ability to pay bills, which then causes one to lose property. In other words, you have legal permanent residents being denied their freedom, their children, and their property.

I will have more on Friday, after the attorneys have their hearing. I am praying that the judge will release these women.

In fighting for Bella, we have helped, inadvertently, those in her group because of the attention we have gotten for her. Like I said, members of Congress got involved in Bella's case, but I don't know the specifics yet because I would not be able to call them as a journalist on this case. But you see, dear citizens, we have the power to stop this nightmare and without ever having to lift a weapon, by simply using our voices to demand justice and shame those abusing power into doing right by our fellow Americans.

Let's keep the pressure on for the women of "company bella" (my term) which includes the other women in her group. Let's demand to know who they are, where their children have been taken, why they are being held, and how we can help them. We have a small window between now and Friday to make it clear that we will not stand for people being disappeared, smuggled across state lines, warehoused like cattle in private detention facilities, and especially stand silent while children lose their mothers and their own freedom in essence.

Keep the pressure on the media
Keep the pressure on local authorities
Keep the pressure on ICE
Keep the pressure on Congress (yes, your votes have real consequences, not just political gotcha tricks)

And let us hope that in working to free company Bella, others, in other states will work to stop operation return to sender... let's call our efforts, operation return to the Constitution.

I will update on this on Friday or sooner, should something change. Thanks for all of your work on this. Keep it going.

separate from the women... i have no sources inside with the men... Bella puts me in a unique position, providing information from her side and on her group... not sure of how they are grouping them... one is from Costa Rica, her kids were taken... don't know about the others. i am going to do a huge story on this as soon as i can, right now, torture and Iran are the stories i am on and i have to work... please keep this kicked... operation return to the Constitution!

8. Thank you Larissa. The situation is truly abusive beyond belief.
There is no reason these women are being held - how can they continue to be detained?

It defies any logic.

Thank you for posting and keeping us updated.

Prayers and thoughts are with you, Bella and all the women who are being abused in this manner.

29. I think you're right. It also feels eerily like a pilot program
for something bigger and worse. For one thing, why are they targeting LEGAL residents? Just the fact that these people *DO* have documentation makes them easier to locate and detain. But why would they want to make people afraid to apply for or renew a green card? And yet it sounds like exactly what they're doing.

32. I have wondered, too, Raksha
I think, though, that targeting illegal immigrants would not be as frightening to the public at large. There are no explanations necessary for detaining, and deporting them. Legal residents, however, are a different thing. They are in a sort of middle ground, between American citizens, and illegals. They are foreign, but here legally. It's just one step closer to doing the same to those of us who were born here. Either that, or I'm being paranoid, but at the age of 63, I haven't seen anything quite like this, nor have I experienced a president who insists on his right to torture people when he chooses.

in the 1930's. Then came the concentration camps.

I wonder how many thousands of legal residents have left the US for fear of being imprisoned?

36. Same Shit Different Day
from what I can see

Fascism is facism

Amerikuh has become a fascist, racist, xenophobic, country who's citizens to a large degree have been propagandized by the politics of fear.

Sounds to me like Bella is in the modern equivalent of a concentration camp! A criminal detention facility for a woman who has not been charged with any crime.

I imagine that we all should have some vigilance towards our government right now. Those who leave the country in fear may find that real change is only possible when the people retake their country.

So it is just like the deportation of Jews from Germany. She hasn't been deported, but she was targeted for unknown reasons. She has been detained.

45. It's a very strange dynamic....

but the official purpose of the detention camps built by Halliburton, as I have read it, is to detain illegals in the event of an influx (invasion?) from Mexico, and presumably any sort of uprising. The real reason may be to detain any suspect Latinos (resident or otherwise) in the event that military action is required against Mexico. I've also heard that the internment facilities in Hawaii are being kept maintained.

50. I Figure That The Southwest Really Belongs To Mexico
we took it from them

actually we took it all from the native Americans

maybe we should be paying taxes to them instead of to our government

I abhor the idea of detaining, deporting, anyone who is not a criminal, and being here illegally to work is not really the same as being "illegal"

Since when did trying to work and support your family become a crime?

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I think the only ones that should be locked up over immigration are the administration officials themselves.

52. Its really mostly a scam setup by Republican business...
to bring in slave labor to work for them without receiving the rest of the benefits of being a US citizen, including minimum wages. The businesspeople are the bad guys, not the ones trying to support their families. If we're that concerned about helping poor Mexican families, then we should send them more aid, work with their government to improve conditions, or increase legal immigration. We should not be treating illegals as criminals because it is Republican businesses and our government which indirectly brought them here in the first place.
