Halliburton Watch to Update Nigerian Bribery Timeline
Yesterday, I received notice from the fine folks at HalliburtonWatch.org that they are updating the Nigerian bribery timeline: http://www.halliburtonwatch.org/about_hal/nigeria_timeline.html

As additional information (e.g., the text of the e-mails setting forth Halliburton's efforts to cover up the story, with the help of the senior-most Bush Administration officials) comes to light, I'll be sure to post updates here.

2. And the beat goes on....
Does any candidate have going after Halliburton, KBR, et al., as a campaign issue? It would have been a good one.

18. Strange coincidence:
Probably doesn't mean anything but I'll just throw this out there... Absolutely nothing to it, I assume. (But hey, with things getting heated as the Democrats are about to take control, its only logical that I put on my tinfoil hat.)

From http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14959097:
The e-mails, he said, focused on how the Houston oil field services conglomerate would defend itself against a federal review of bribery and corruption charges connected to Halliburton’s natural gas operations in Nigeria.

David A. Smith, who says he owns a single share of company’s common stock, filed a statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday, saying David R. Smith “was being asked to weigh in on how to explain away the source of the bribes paid to Nigerian officials.”

Nigerian officials... Nigerian officials..

From http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/29/world/africa/29cnd-nigeria.html:
DAKAR, Senegal Oct. 30 — A commercial airliner with 104 people on board, including the spiritual leader of Nigeria’s vast Muslim population, crashed today shortly after takeoff in the Nigerian capital of Abuja. It was the third deadly passenger plane crash in Nigeria in a little more than a year.
...
In addition to the sultan, several top Sokoto State officials were on the plane, Mr. Shehu said, including two senators and the deputy governor. The group had been in the capital attending a government meeting on education, Mr. Shehu said.

Nigerian officials.. plane crash, hmm.

19. Nigeria Is a Mess Right Now...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigeria

http://search.state.gov/search?q=nigeria&site=stategov%7Coig%7Cfpc%7Cbmena%7Cusawc%7Cmepi%7Ctravel%7Cexchanges%7Ccareers%7Cfoia%7Caiep&client=stategov_frontend&output=xml_no_dtd&proxystylesheet=stategov_frontend&entqr=3&lr=lang_en&sort=date%3AD%3AS%3Ad1

Unfortunately for our principles, it - like the locations of so many other repressive regimes - is the location of untold natural resources, and is, accordingly, designated as "treat with kid gloves" by the current Administration.

So, we're gonna Marcos this one up. Noriega it up. Hussein it up.

As for "well-timed" plane crashes - there seems to be a bit of synchronicity going on: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=2512483&mesg_id=2515450
