Moment of Crisis: Jimmy Carter, the Power of a Peacemaker, and North Korea's Nuclear Ambitions
Marion Creekmore, Jr.

In "A Moment of Crisis" Marion Creekmore, Jr. recounts President Jimmy Carter's intervention in the 1994 North Korean nuclear crisis. The author, who accompanied the former president to North Korea, details the controversy that surrounded the mission, the current situation with North Korea, and the post-presidency impact of President Carter. During this event hosted by the Carter Center, Mr. Creekmore is joined by President Carter, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and James Laney, former US ambassador to South Korea.

Marion Creekmore, Jr. is a Distinguished Visiting Professor of History and Political Science at Emory University and served as program director of The Carter Center from 1993 to 1996. Mr. Creekmore served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Organizations Affairs from 1979 - 1981 and as U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Republic of Maldives from 1989 to 1992.
