EVERY person on this planet should have the same rights as Americans
If we didn't believe our rights were moral and just, WHY THE FUCK DO WE PRAISE OURSELVES AS A NATION FOR HAVING THEM?

If we DO believe our rights are moral and just then we would be EVIL if we said only certain people within certain borders are entitled to those rights.

So why would there be ANY QUESTION whether an accused terrorist or an AMERICAN accused of murder or any other crime should have those legal rights?

The current administration HATES AMERICA because they do not believe in American rights and freedoms.

1. "We hold these truths to be self-evident"
America can no longer be trusted as the defender of liberty.
If it ever was...

2. Tricky business
if you're talking about bringing rights to people by force of arms.

9. But do you have enough money & influence to buy the same rights as me?
...if you don't then you should pull yourself up by your bootstraps, you must be a slacker.

7. Well, no.... every person should have MORE rights...
...since America seems to be busily denying ourselves habeas corpus, privacy, voting in free and fair elections, etc.

Perhaps we should say "Everyone on the planet should have all the rights Americans would like to think we have."

curmudgeonly,
Bright

10. Human rights are universal. Liberties aren't.
When the exercise of human rights is infringed upon it's called oppression - an abridgement of civil liberties.

Yeah. I'm a nitpicker. :dunce:
I also distinguish between rights and entitlements.

11. Don't you mean the same rights we used to have?
Last time I checked, habeas corpus was abolished and any of us could be named an enemy combatant at the whim of the current White House occupant.

12. Americans should have the same rights others enjoy...
Such as free healthcare, a cleaner environment, free and fair elections, the right to marry, and I could go on.
