Lieberman campaign sends NYT an angry letter for endorsing Lamont.
http://mydd.com/story/2006/10/30/164229/72

"Joe's communications director penned this incredibly angry letter to the New York Times editorial board after its endorsement of Ned Lamont. I have never seen a candidate attack a newspaper so openly and viciously."

It is quite telling that the Times, much like the bloggers who have been trying to purge Joe Lieberman from the Democratic Party, failed to acknowledge any of these accomplishments and stands - or to explain why they were not relevant to your endorsement process.

Nor do your editors acknowledge the fact that Senator Lieberman has opposed the Bush Administration on most every major domestic policy initiative.

Or that Senator Lieberman has been endorsed by groups as diverse as the League of Conservation Voters, the Human Rights Campaign, Planned Parenthood and NARAL, the Chamber of Commerce, the Realtors, and Connecticut's police, firefighter, and building trades unions.

Or, not least of all, the Times editors did not acknowledge the consequences of losing Senator Lieberman's seniority for the people of Connecticut and for many of the progressive causes the Times has long championed.

Here's a link to the full letter from Joe's site. This use of the word "purge" angers me.

You really need to read it all. As Matt points out, this guy is winning...so why he is so angry?

2. I thought Joe purged himself from the DEM party- he is running as an ( I )
If he wanted to stay in the Democratic party, then he would have endorsed and supported Lamont, the DEM nominee.

5. It's all about Joe
and nothing but Joe.

Somehow he thinks he is Gods gift to America, and he doesn't care what he has to do to win.

And to think he should be our Vice President.

Wonder what Gore was thinking when he picked him?

14. God's gift to America?
no, more like God's gift to Israel and the Likud party.

If this war of choice was not against a muslim country in the ME, but rather against Venezuela or some other resource rich non-ME country... does anyone believe that Joementum would be cheer leading for Bushco?

Who's interests does Joe represent?

17. Yup. No one PURGED him, he lost the primary. It's called "DEMOCRACY".
I'd be happy to send him some pamphlets if
he's interested in learning more about it.

But I'm not gonna hold my breath.

23. I'm so, so tired of that word. You're right. No one purged Joe
we voted. He lost.

Instead of graciously moving on, he began the whine-fest.

What I truly don't get is why anyone who had supported him in the primary would stick with him given his atrocious behavior post-primary. The constant finger-pointing and whining, the attach ads while claiming to hate all the negativity... all the typical Republican stuff. The hypocrisy is dizzying.

He could have faded into the sunset and maintained some semblance of respectability. It's very telling that he chose not to do so.

10. The proper response should be...
Lamont is the designated Democratic candidate; Lieberman is an independent. Common wisdom holds that independents and third party candidates can never, ever get elected. Thus, the Times has endorsed a candidate FROM THOSE OF THE MAJOR PARTIES LIKELY TO WIN.

He made us angry about the spider hole remark, but we were still faithful to the party and not rude to him.
