There's really only two days left. Its all over for them.
They have lost control of the news cycle.
The last polls were still trending democratic.
Noone watches the news over the weekend.
The Saddam verdict cannot help, it can only hurt. At worst, its another reminder of Iraq, a negative for Bush now, at worst, the courtroom scene will be shown on a splitscreen, with smoke, fire, rioting, and explosions on the other half of the screen. And besides, its a football Sunday, noone will notice.
No need to celebrate yet, don't slack off, but there is nothing wrong with confidence. I for one am feeling confident. Nothing can stop this now.

(and no diebold paranoia is gonna change that).

1. Sorry
They will prevail and only beacuse the voting system is so screwed up.
It's a democracy of illusion, I fear.

3. You'll eat those words.
Which will be a happy occasion.

No naysayers.

4. One of the days is Sunday
not to rain on our parade, but there are 1000's of lil' bully pulpits across the land, and the psalm-singers are gonna vote how they are told

Thats what Rove banks on. Maybe this Haggard thing will blow it up

5. Every 7th day is Sunday.
This last one isn't going to change anything.

6. Then thats too bad
Because thats how they won in 2004. They rally their base from the pews. Roves holy card.

I was hoping this Haggard thing and the Foley thing would squash it. But you are right, there are alot of Sundays in the year. Why should this one be any different? These people are led to believe they are voting for GOD, not GOP.

8. That...and Diebold, clearly. Also, they've LOST at least 10% of
their die-hard evangelical base. Even with that 10% intact in 2004, they won by the slimmest of margins. People's opinions have changed completely in the meantime...even hard-core Republicans I know are so disgusted they are swearing to vote Dem.

The Republicans are toast.

And here's a toast! Cheers! :toast:

7. I'm still holding my breath.
There is still time to drop a Rove-bomb before the election -- long enough for the bomb to build up steam but still close enough to the election so that a proper response can't be put forth.

And there are the machines -- and voter intimidation, and new voter rules, and challenging of voters, and long voter lines, and on and on...

The fat lady has not sung by a l-o-n-g shot.

9. 8 US soldiers were killed yesterday.
Barely a mention on the news.

"at worst, the courtroom scene will be shown on a splitscreen, with smoke, fire, rioting, and explosions on the other half of the screen."

Oh, I can imagine a lot worse than that. The courtroom being shown split screen with Iraqis jumping up and down celebrating, and pulling over the statue of Saddam.
