Lieberman's Lieberthugs Attack Lamont Bus!
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 03:24 PM by Opposite Reaction

"Remember the primary when Joe sent his staffers to Ted’s in Meriden to start a fight with Ned and campaign staff? Well … they are at it again.

Today at an event in Hartford, at a senior center, Joe “volunteers” swarmed the “stand up for change” bus and pressed their bodies against the vehicle, not allowing the doors to open and anyone to exit.

When the bus moved and the door was partially opened for Ned and staff, Joe’s “volunteers” rushed the bus again, violently screaming in the door. Ned was never able to make it off the bus and into the senior center."

Lieberthugs in Hartford

(A report from David Sirota from the tour… more later on this and the great event in Enfield that took place later this morning – Charles)

"I must say, it is quite a sight to see young people voiciferously cheer on a broken-down career politician who has used his position to insist that other young people continue to be killed and maimed in a war based on lies. And though I had heard a lot about Joe Lieberman small band of paid thugs from the primary, seeing it up close today was, in a word, frightening.

The moment the bus door opened today at the Hartford senior center at this morning’s first bus tour event, the wild-eyed group of Lieberthugs surrounded and screamed at Ned as he met with seniors. The group was pathetically small, although admittedly loud. They didn’t scream anything other than the word “Joe” – they didn’t chant about the war or any other issue. Just “Joe.”

That was, in poker terms, the “tell.” The fact that they weren’t there to push any issue but instead there to scream the name of a tired career politician – that was the giveaway that these were not impassioned volunteers motivated by a cause – these were mercenaries who have sold their soul for a piece of street money.

When I realized this, I suddenly understood why they were so wild-eyed: because something has to have short circuited in your brain to be a young person willing to so viciously attack someone like Ned Lamont whose candidacy, at its root, is about trying to prevent more young people from being maimed and killed in the Iraq War. Sure, the street money probably helps make this short circuit happen. And as Dan ”$30,000 a Month” Gerstein shows, Lieberman is having to pay people a lot of money to get them to remove their souls."

Campaign Trail Counter-Programming
By Nicholas Confessore

"They’re baaaaaaaaaack.
The pro-Joe Lieberman, anti-Ned Lamont protestors that Mr. Lamont’s supporters dubbed the “LieberKidz.”
We last saw them dogging Mr. Lamont during the heated Senate primary, and today they showed up in force at the morning kickoff of Mr. Lamont’s “Stand Up For Change” bus tour, day two, mobbing the parking lot of a Hartford residence for the elderly, and cheering “Vote for Joe” as Mr. Lamont tried to speak with some of the residents.
Mr. Lamont’s staff, somewhat outnumbered by the three dozen or so Lieberman supporters, looked annoyed.
“This is what you can do with $387,000 in petty cash,” fumed Mr. Lamont’s spokeswoman, Liz Dupont-Diehl, referring to the as-yet-unexplained, unusually large petty cash fund Mr. Lieberman maintained during the closing days of the primary."

Edit: changed title a little.

7. So this is the response to the 'Kissmobile'?
Bought-and-paid-for Young Republicans throwing themselves at buses and screaming?

Is this the level of Republican "discourse" now?

And I'm sure they captured the votes of the seniors at that venue.

Disgusting.

8. I was working in NH during the '04 primaries, and I remember the Lieberman
supporters were the rudest, nastiest, pettiest of all. I was with the Clark campaign. The Edwards people were very sweet and pleasant. The Deaniacs were great, and there were a lot of them. The Kucinich people were very passionate and focused. The Lieberman people just seemed pissed off. One thing that really ticked me off was, they would point a megaphone in someone's ear and yell, even after you asked them to stop.
