Once Alito and the Neo-Cons go after our right to fuck, slacker Americans will start to pay attention. We will end up with 83% voter turnout, finally! All it will take is an attack on sex.
Hello DU. I’m sure ya’ll already know this, but I wanted to clarify; No one cares about politics! I mean, sure, you have many people that follow politics. Everyone at DU enjoys the political scene. But a majority of voters do not care about this shit one bit. This is particularly true with younger people.
In this context, politicians need to do two things - support their base, and avoid offending the “could care less crowd”. Nothing else really matters.
Now, for the good news. While “no one cares about politics” everyone wants to get laid! The right wing is dangerously close to taking firm control of all three branches of the government. If the neo cons start to go after sex (read: abortion), all hell is going to break lose.
So while the “kick their ass, take their gas” crowd might not give two shits if Bush spies on anti-war protesters, they will freak out when their right to fuck gets compromised.
I believe that the progressive movement is the heart of America, and the heart of the Democratic party. The best way to fight the anti-fuck GOP is not to ‘triangulate’, but rather to offer an opposite, pro-fuck message.
We need to become the voice of youth. Progress, freedom, compassion, liberal, open. We don’t need to be a ‘less evil GOP’ party. We need to be the right party.
Currently the black congressional caucus and the progressive caucus are the only truth in our party. The only future in our party. We at DU need to support these groups and oppose conservative (both Dem and GOP) anti-fuck “values”.
To sum up, most folks don’t care about politics. Most people care only about sex. Once the GOP goes after sex, the masses with oppose them. Will the masses find the Democrats to be part of the solution or part of the problem? I want the masses to find the Dems to be the solution!
So how do we better oppose the conservative and support the progressive movement? Holla, DU!
