Tomorrow could be the happiest dawn in the history of DU. I would know.
I've been here since March 2001 (as a lurker) and registered as DemoTex since May 2001. The only really big uptick I remember was the defection of Jeffords in June 2001. If tomorrow dawns as I think it will, we will be ecstatic for a few days. Well deserved, and damn good too.

However, beware of hubris. Beware of Schadenfreude. Temper pride with humility. If we pull this one out, it is just a start on 2008. WE MUST WIN 2008.

The enemy cock crowed tonight - Tom Delay - and made a fool of himself and his party. Smart cocks wait until dawn to do their crowing.

Oh, and Tweety just called Connecticut for Lieberman. Welcome him back into the Democratic caucus. We need him. Bury that hatchet quickly. Verb Sap!

5. DemoTex is long gone from Dallas!
I'm in ultra-red upstate South Carolina now. My man, Griff, is losing, too. I'm fighting a fever and a bad URI, so I'm missing the party at Griff HDQS.

8. Yep. You are right.
Schadenfreude is up there with food, sex, and shelter. It is sometimes necessary.

12. Yeah, but be honest...
Even Texas hasn't liked Texas in a loooong time...

Once they finally catch on to what the elitist Skull and Bones yale cheerleader from Kennebunkport and West Palm Beach has done to them, they will be the first to ride him out of town on a rail...texas good old boy rancher, my ass...

11. Was that the beta-mode of DU?
I always thought DU was born in early 2001. But thank goodness I found DU when I did.

13. DemoTex
You are so right! I have been here since right after Sept. 11th. The scandels that have come along and everyone including me were so hopeful that they would "Grow Legs" and some of them did for awhile but never seemed to reach the level we hoped. All the hopeful elections that have come and gone since then. Our beloved Du'ers that have passed in this time. This is what we have all gethered here for. The last 6 years have been a lifetime and I have dreamed about this night when we would be here to celebrate together and not be here to pick each other up to go on for another couple of years. We all have known the anquish and disappoinment , also the deep sadness, now it is our turn to know the excitement and joy of winning , but for myself and family I have learned to never take for granted this wonderful gift of freedom and I hope that I instilled this into my 18 yr old daughter who voted for the first time today. I made her pose in front of our voting place today and took her picture in front of the "Vote Here" sign. She called me a doting mother and I quess I am but this is as important a moment as all the other milestones in her life.
