1. That's just it
they don't see their positions as extreme. They've held them since the 1950's, for heaven's sake! It's the rest of us who have changed.

LOL

9. I think you are right on with this
They have maintained this illusion for some other type of America from some decade long ago that does not exist anymore and probably never did. The world flows ever onward and they are trying to be the rocks in the river fighting the current. When they realize that their values can be maintained without having to force change upon others, or changed when they are flat out wrong, I will welcome them to our America.

4. I've been thinking the same thing.
They seem to think that the people's discontent comes down solely to Iraq. Of course, Iraq is a big part of it but it also give them a convenient excuse to not look at everything else that people don't like about them. The words culture of corruption still come to mind.

5. They are not aware. Let them keep being unaware; they won't have any
more supporters except the out of touch fundamentalists and hate-mongers.

being adequately addressed. Almost 50% of the people in Nevada and South Fucking Dakota (ferchrissakes) voted to LEGALIZE MARIJUANA USE. It didn't pass, but it pretty damn well almost did, and that's the way things are trending. Terri Schiavo bit the GOP on the ass. So isn't it about time for some of our politicians to clearly state a pro-personal freedom, pro-self determination, pro-choice, pro stay-the-hell-out-of-my body, bloodstream, reading material, pants and bedroom agenda?

7. Maybe, but judging by the propositions nation-wide
About marriage amendments and affirmative action and maybe others, I don't think it's quite as cut and dry as that. If only Republicans were voting to "sanctify marriage" or quash AA then they would've won the seats, so I'm not sure what to make of the disconnect.

school and moderate Republicans this hard rw christian agenda did them in. there are more of us collectively than there are of them.
