"Did the Democrats really "seize" the Senate or were they 'elected'
in the Senate?"

Jack Cafferty made that comment on CNN today, after hearing that the Democrats had seized the Senate.

I thought it was a good catch, because the implication was that we had won the Senate by force or by cheating.

Silly media.

It's the Republicans who seize offices....most recently, the last two Presidential elections.

2. During a takeover, one party to the other, you 'sieze' control
It's not uncommon to use that word - I doubt he meant anything more than that.

4. It may not be uncommon, but I don't think it's proper. Protesters
seize control of the building, and the coup seized control of the government.

The Democrats "gained" control of the Senate.

I believe that is the proper usage.

I know exactly what Cafferty was implying, otherwise he wouldn't have brought it up.

3. Cafferty needs a better network.
Wish I could do something to help give ALL our media heroes a real journalistic cable news channel.
The others should be tried and... well, fired anyway.

5. Why, by golly, I believe you're RIGHT!
There was an election recently, wasn't there? I guess by that standard you could say they were "elected", couldn't you? Yes, you could!
