Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 07:59 PM by hopeisaplace
happy...I just don't get it.
Happy that the Prez will get "more power" - spy on people etc..
is abortion that much of an issue that they don't care about anything else?
I'm so baffled by their behaviors.

Well, I suppose it's nice they care about women's eggs and all, too bad
they don't care about people once they're born? no medical for how many?
rising prices? gas prices out of control? endless wars?

On the bright side women, your eggs will be safer :sarcasm: <--I know that's not needed right?

edit: typo

5. Actually, abortion is not that
big an issue for the conservatives. It gets the most press right now. Yeah, they're hot about it.

But. They disagree with us on every issue. Your mistake is in thinking that if it weren't for abortion, they would be voting Democratic. Maybe you're right, but I don't think so. I think that if not for abortion, another issue would dominate: national security, taxes, other judicial decisions such as the death penalty, etc.

6. Religious Right is in ecstacy.
They are on the verge of gaining the only thing they care about, the only reason they ever had, or needed, to vote for Bush.

It's ok if we've been lied into a war. It's ok if that war is a distraction from hunting down the perpetrators of 9/11. It's ok if this administration supports torture. If it supports secretly holding people for years without charging them with crimes nor allowing them any means of legal defense. It's ok if our civil rights are eroding before out lives. It's ok if our President has deliberately acted in direct violation of the law and the very Constitution which he swore, on a Bible, to defend.

That's all ok, just so long as they have the ability to deny a womans right to make her own decision regarding abortion.
