It would have been far better for her to sit quietly, refusing to applaud a single word, and perhaps make some grimaces that the camera would no doubt focus on. Unlike the congressmen, she's a citizen and her reactions would carry far more weight than those of, say, Hillary.

In fact, I would have loved to see the camera continue to cut back to her throughout the speech. It would have taken all the post-debate spin off of Bush's bullshit and onto her presence, hanging over Bush like the gloomy grey cloud of the electorate.

Instead, she makes a foolish bull-in-a-china shop spectacle. I sympathize with her cause, but her 15 minutes are seriously over.

I was hoping she would listen, have a saddened and teary eyed look on her face in expression to the lies and pain this president has put the country through, and then been able to powerfully and intellectually been able to talk to the press for her reaction afterwards. Unfolding a banner inside the chamber before the SOTU address is in my opinion not only inappropriate (though I agree with her sentiment) but now also ineffective.
