MORE DETAILS on Cindy Sheehan's arrest
Per CNN:

She was sitting in her seat and apparently unfolded some banner and that's when she was arrested. Against House rules.

4. sigh.....
all she had to do was sit there quietly and give interviews afterward.

Instead, she tried a protest move that got her arrested, maybe that's what she wanted.

Who knows?

I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

She speaks volumes without muttering a word.

There is something seriously wrong when an American can not express their constitutional freedom in the very house she & we own.

Point in case: Last year while watching Britain's Prime Minister Blair speak before an un-selected audience, he answered some really tough questions on the tube live.

Does anyone recall? He was sweatin' bullets from his brow, down past his cheeks.

16. stupid
It would have been far better for her to sit quietly, refusing to applaud a single word, and perhaps make some grimaces that the camera would no doubt focus on. Unlike the congressmen, she's a citizen and her reactions would carry far more weight than those of, say, Hillary.

In fact, I would have loved to see the camera continue to cut back to her throughout the speech. It would have taken all the post-debate spin off of Bush's bullshit and onto her presence, hanging over Bush like the gloomy grey cloud of the electorate.

Instead, she makes a foolish bull-in-a-china shop spectacle. I sympathize with her cause, but her 15 minutes are seriously over.

Bush having to look out into the crowd for a solid hour and avoid meeting the eyes of the women he tried like hell to avoid in Crawford? He would have broken apart like the gibbering fool that he is, teleprompter or not.

Now, this opportunity to unsettle him is gone. All for a stunt that no one saw.

that's BS. Her t-shirt had numbers on it, numbers representing how many soldiers have died. And yet they are reporting that it was an "Anti-War" t-shirt. How are numbers representative of anything other than the facts?!

Cindy Sheehan Arrested on Capitol Hill
BY LAURIE KELLMAN, AP

"Schneider said Sheehan had worn a T-shirt with an anti-war slogan to the speech and covered it up until she took her seat. Police warned her that such displays were not allowed, but she did not respond, the spokeswoman said."

38. I Was Hoping She Wouldn't Do Anything Like That.
I was hoping she would listen, have a saddened and teary eyed look on her face in expression to the lies and pain this president has put the country through, and then been able to powerfully and intellectually been able to talk to the press for her reaction afterwards. I think that could've been a great rebuttal.

Unfolding a banner inside the chamber before the SOTU address is in my opinion not only inappropriate (though I agree with her sentiment) but now also ineffective. She is a bright, powerful wonderful woman with a lot of good to say. I wish she would've had that chance tonight after the speech. Oh well.

60. Amen, Cottonbear!
It's people like Cindy and those willing to risk being arrested that will make the difference in the end. Not those of lilly livers that sit back and "Tut tut!"

Do you all have your sensiblilities insulted by her actions? Well good! This is what it's going to take. Get used to it!

It's a fucking t-shirt! Sheesh!

63. Sorry, but no
I have no problem with the woman speaking her mind, 1st amendment, yada yada...but my god the woman is an idiot. If you're going to go to go to all the trouble to sneak in a banner or a anti-Chimpy t-shirt (I've heard both versions tonight, then she shoulda waited til he was in mid-speech before revaling it. For christ's sake, this is Basic Protest 101.

82. I disagree - it was ingenious!
Maybe it wasn't her idea, but if she surrounds herself with geniuses that thought this up, then kudos to her. What are people talking about now? The speech or Cindy?

64. Check the photos
She didn't have a banner. She was simply wearing a white t-shirt that displayed the number of troops killed in Iraq.

76. Capital Building or Reichtag?
The capital police was probably waiting for her to do something so she could be removed. Wearing a t-shirt with the number of troops killed (including her son) in Iraq is a first admenment right. This may work in her favor, big news item tonight & on all the scrools including CSPAN- just had a segment on CNN about it. Might make the talk show ciruit & be interviewed wearing the shirt. Sales of shirt will go up. If anyone should be arrested its the war criminal giving the speech. Remember when Chilabi was present in the special vistor box behind Laura a few years ago. Now there is someone who should have been arrested.

The Right will try to demonize her & make her into a major criminal, but all they will do is give her more attention for her to get the anti-war message out. The more they hate her the more effect she is having.

84. There was no "banner"
Ms Sheehan simply was wearing a t-shirt that listed the number of dead US troops in Iraq , and asked "How many more" ? Welcome to Chimpy's World : No dissent allowed
