He was never duly confirmed. He did not hold that office legitimately.
So as far as I'm concerned, he never was the real ambassador of anything.

Don't celebrate too much: guess who gets to appoint the new ambassador.

23. The spin is BS
He did not have the votes for reconfirmation and Bushco spent the weekend trying to manipulate votes. Apparently no one told them the Dems control Congress now and many Rethugs are not supporting lame fugging ducks.

22. Who is going to replace him - Poppy Bush?
Somebody on here a while back proposed Poppy as a good alternative to Bolton (I'm sure it's not going to be Bill Clinton...)

When folks were originally thinking of alternatives, Poppy seemed like the best of a bad lot, as I'm pretty sure that a Democrat won't be put up for nomination by the White House.

Bolton to exit as U.N. ambassador

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Facing opposition from key senators, U.S. Ambassador to the
United Nations John Bolton will leave office in a matter of days, the White House announced on Monday.

Spokeswoman Dana Perino said President George W. Bush had reluctantly accepted Bolton's decision to leave the U.N. post when the current session of the U.S. Congress ends, possibly at the end of the week.
