1. didn't the nixon admin push iran ro build 12 nukler plants?
back in the shah's day, when iranian oil flowing to our benefit, we sorta pressured the iranians to build a buncha nuclear power plants-the old memory hole has all the info but it's sure hypocritical to blather about nukes when the iranians were, to be honest, swindled into building them when they neitrher needed them, nor really wanted them...hypocrisy just isn't american like apple pie is, it's believed...

2. It was Dick Cheney who thought it was a great idea
This is the biggest flaw in the nuclear plan.
We can't say that's the energy solution and then
threaten nuclear war on anyone we don't like that
builds them.

3. There's no safe place to put the waste, except TX, CA, and VT
They have too many congressional votes to do anything sane with the waste. Nuclear isn't safe, and is more expensive per MW than oil, coal, or almost anything else.

However, even with 1970s technology, if we were to cover the Nevada Test Site with solar panels, we could provide enough electricity to power the entire planet. And not an ounce of waste.

There are safe and efficient alternatives to both coal and nuclear, but they are neither particularly profitable to traditional energy companies nor promoted effectively.
