Why they clapped at the SOTU

Why they clapped:

Mention of Martin Luther King's name = bipartisan ovation
mention of our policies in Iraq = 2 GOP ovations
Mention men and women in the military = 1 long cheap bipartisan ovation
Introduction of a soldier's family = 1 bipartisan ovation
Invoking all the other military families = 1 bipartisan ovation
Palestinians need to work toward peace = loud clapping
All humans must work toward peace = polite clapping
Iran must stop defying the world with its nuclear ambitions = 2 ovations
Free and democratic Iran = Loud clapping from one side of the aisle
Law enforcement protecting us all = standing ovation long enough to seem sincere
Patriot Act = Loud ovation from one side of the chamber
Defense of surveillance programs = Ovation from GOP
Supreme Court not clapping
Asking for bipartisan support = Forced ovation (Dems slow to stand)
We are richer than ever = Scattered Applause
Immigrants needed = Forced ovation
Tax cuts permanent = Standing ovation and shouting from GOP
Dems did not clap at all
Cutting deficit = GOP clapping
Line item veto = Applause
Social Security = Democrats applaud the fact Congress did not act to save social security
calls for bipartisan solutions = bipartisan ovation
Open more markets
so American worker can compete = Ovation
Secure borders = 2 claps
Worker program = Applause
Affordable health care = bipartisan ovation
better insurance = Applause
medical liability reform = GOP ovation, Dem applause
Invest coal, nuclear energy = bipartisan ovation
New technology, cars = applause
Reduce dependance on middle eastern oil = bipartisan Ovation
Education = bipartisan Ovation
Science technology = bipartisan Ovation
Encourage kids to take math and science = bipartisan Ovation
Fewer abortions, unwed mothers = Applause
Americans have strong morals = Applause
Optimistic = Thin applause
2 new judges SCOTUS = bipartisan Ovation
Goodbye Sandy O = bipartisan Ovation
No human cloning, embrionic research = bipartisan Ovation
Strengthen ethical standards of politicians = shouts of agreement from Dems.

First Lady = bipartisan Ovation
relief for Gulf Coast and New Orleans = bipartisan Ovation
HIV and Aids cures needed = bipartisan Ovation
Faith based groups to test for Aids = Applause
Invokes Lincoln and King, and vets of WW2 = No applause
God Bless America = tepid bipartisan applause

3. The only sincere applause accompanied his statement that
Congress had failed to pass his social security reform legislation. The Dems shouted and burst into applause.

Oh and tax cuts for the rich. That one always makes them salivate. What dancing baloney!

5. All of the applause is forced
Not one actual accomplishment celebrated.

They were forced to applaud god, flag and apple pie. A hollow empty speech without substance.
