My take on the DPW/AIG ports deal (DPW will run the Ports)

AIG Global Investment Group started with the American General Insurance Company founded decades ago in Houston by a man named Gus Wortham who, ironically, was a friend of my family.

My right-wing brother runs their computer operations today.

AIG is in no way capable of physically managing any ports.

So, who will get the contract to run the Ports?

Why,... Dubai Ports World, that's who.

I have been on this from Day 1 and have called it this way ever since.

But I thought it would be Carlyle or Halliburton, not AIG because of (obvious) reasons stated above.

There had to be some serious s**t going on with this deal.

This is going to stay way under the radar.

1. From what I could ascertain from AIG's public record, they have no experience in this.

Kind of puzzled me, outside of a purely financial deal. :shrug:

2. My bet is there is a lot of Arab leverage in AIG

DPW was determined to hold on to those ports and this is the way to make it happen.

3. Don't you think they will bring in SSA Marine

to do terminal ops? I thought that Carlyle was going to be all over this and had it all but sewn up. This makes me think that Carlyle/Dubai Ports World and our BFEE are playing there cards very close to the chest because they can expect a huge hissy fit when people start screaming about who owns Carlyle--as there should be.
Now--on to discover BFEE financial ties to AIG.

4. AIG has long had ties to the international underworld

Even though he was disgraced and forced out of AIG after having led it for many decades, Hank Greenberg was once under consideration to head the CIA under Poppy (IIRC it was under Poppy).
