Conspiracy theorists call DU "fake progressive website"

I made the mistake of reading a bit of Wayne Madsen on the subject
of Litvinenko, because that mess is so complicated that I thought I
might hear something new from the conspiracy crowd.

What I got instead was this gem:

which, indeed, blasts Madsen for hyperventilating and confabulating.

But, here's my question: what makes Madsen think DU is "fake"? In the comments
section at neuralgourmet, there is a slanging match between tombstoned DUers
and current DUers about the fact that Madsen references has been banned from DU.

Is Madsen just seeing conspiracy where there is merely disgust at his posturing?
Are ex-DUers grinding an axe thru Madsen?
What, specifically, is the accusation against DU?

I ask so that I have an answer to this paranoid nonsense when it comes up. I
certainly support the ban on Madsen, but I would like to understand what club
a supporter of his is going to try to hit me with.

8. Oh, I know you're asking an innocent question

Madsen was ticked off at some point because his threads were deleted, or somesuch. Since DU and Kos won't publicize his conspiracy theories, he thinks they're fake progressives.

But he has a weird way of connecting the dots using entirely too much speculation to get from point a to point b. And some folks here felt burned when his election fraud story turned out to be somewhat bogus and low on hard evidence.

14. He was doing an election fraud story, where Poppy Bush was supposed to have

paid foreigners to hack into a computer tied to voting machines in Ohio (iirc). He was on the trail of a check that would prove his story, but it turned out to be a forgery. He then said that this still proved his story. Folks were disappointed that he turned out to be a hack. Things have not gone well for him here since then.

Restrictions on Linking to Other Websites

Do not post messages that give publicity to websites that have little purpose other than to smear, disrupt, or complain about Democratic Underground. Currently there are only three websites that fall into this category. Their addresses are not listed here because we do not wish to give them publicity.
