1. Congress could have done that before
they went on "Christmas hiatus." But they have worked so hard all year they just had to take a break. Everything has been put on "hold." There will be nothing happening until they return in January. Iraqis will stop killing each other and us anticipating the return of Congress. Our president is permanently out to lunch rehearsing his new slogans to keep us fooled. We are no longer living in the USA. The "small" government the Republicans left to keep us going will bring big Christmas presents to all the big corporations. They can leave all the petty problems such as war, poverty, famine, election reform, etc. to the Democrats to straighten out in January.

I have seen a lot in my time on earth but the last few years have been the worst of my life. I was born in the era of Herbert Hoover and can't remember him, but I will surely remember the Bush era as long as I live. And unless something drastic happens we are saddled with two more years of more of the same. Impeachment NOW!

3. The departing Congress is Republican and the new Congress...
...is Democratic.

There is a better chance of the new Congress listening to us.
