Bill Would Restrict Police From Stopping Chicken Trucks On Hot Days

POSTED: 11:43 am EST February 1, 2006

ATLANTA -- A Georgia lawmaker has drafted a bill that would restrict police from stopping any truck hauling live poultry on a hot day.

It would bar police from stopping trucks carrying chickens when the temperature is above 85 degrees unless the officer suspects illegal activity.

Even then, it limits the stops to 10 minutes unless an arrest is made.

1. Note to terrorists: Travel in chicken trucks on hot days
Hey, you're from the desert, 85 should be like a winter carnival.

I'm glad such smart people are running the government.

3. What they should do is draft a bill to not allow truckers to
truck livestock when the temperature is over 85 degrees. They can truck them at night.

6. The poor things die if you do stop the truck.
They literally bake.

Maybe the real thing to do is to make it Illegal to haul chickens in un-air conditioned trucks on hot days?

12. What if it's a truck carrying chickenhawks?
Does that mean if Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, and Limbaugh are cruising around Georgia in their pickup truck, they can't get pulled over?

13. Oboy, next time I drive through Georgia in my pickup...
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 01:50 PM by Lasher
I'm gonna have at least one live chicken with me. I don't like driving alone anyway. Think I could let him ride up front with me to qualify as a protected vehicle of poultry commerce, or would I have to put him in the back?

Gonna be a boatload of fun, blowing through all those speed traps any time the temperature gets above 85.
