Talk to me about Qatar.
Today I found out that my mom is going to Qatar for an 'infinite period of time'. Those of you who have read my posts most likely know that we are not on speaking terms at all. (due to me suing her for embezzling my money)

I do not want the woman in my life but I worry about her moving from Canada to Qatar and what conditions are like over there. Allegedly she will be working but she retired a while back and I think this is misinformation. Knowing her, she may well have found a wealthy businessman and is going over there to take advantage of his bank account. Whatever she is doing, it is not for me to judge.

I Googled 'Qatar' and found some small tidbits,(the CIA has a whole page) but with my lack of information I am worried about her. I am her only family and if something even happens to her I would never know so I could even help her. If it were up to me I would at least call her and make sure what is happening and that she will be safe but she warned me that if I joined our family (over 12 people) in their lawsuit against her, she would never talk to me again. She has held that promise for over two years. I am sure she would hang up on me if I called her.

So do any of you know anything about Qatar that would be reassuring to me? Anything you can tell me would be appreciated. Thanks.

1. Qatar is the
safest most female friendly country in the Gulf. I wouldn't worry about her. A friend of mines daughter married a Qatari and she (American through and through)is the head of the ministry of education. I really wouldn't worry about her. My experience--I lived in Saudi Arabia and looked at Qatar with envy.

3. Thank you.
I have never been there or even heard of Qatar until today. I hate that I am that uninformed. I really appreciate your assurance, you will help me rest a little easier tonight.

2. I've worked out of Doha
and Ras Laffan City and found the Qatari's to be quite friendly to westerners.

It is the Indians and Filipinos that have their passports pulled upon entering Qatar and work for some times 2 years before getting a break to go home.

The one thing I didn't like was it is HOT!...HOT!....HOT! Like 115 deg HOT!

4. Well she can stand the heat....
in fact, she loves the heat. I bet she will be out in the sun every weekend. Meanwhile, I like it any time it is below 60 degrees outside! Thanks for the link.

5. I live close to Qatar
I've known many people who worked there, and they liked it well enough. It's supposed to be a bit boring, though, which is one of the reasons why my husband and I decided to stay in the UAE when he was headhunted by a University in Qatar last year.
