Kansas City has received ZERO snow in December...
The last time this happened?

1886.

Run, Al, run!

1. I do believe Denver is sending some your way...
as we speak? Unless Kansas somehow sucks all the moisture out of this latest megastorm?

18. That's way far west of here
and that storm is swinging north several hundred miles before it could reach here. Kansas is a BIG state. We don't have the same weather in KC as they do in western KS.

and while I appreciate the changes that have come with global warming, I can certainly remember many years of heavy snow in KC-MO and areas north...

32. My dad grew up in Goodland
and my grandma lived in Colby when I was young. So I spent a lot of time in western KS as a kid.

And yes, I remember a lot of heavy snows here in KC years ago. But we still only rarely had a white Christmas. Snows didn't hit us hard until after the new year.

6. Kansas City normally doesn't get a lot of snow....
...however they do get a lot of ice. On the other hand, I'm stuck in western Kansas waiting for the roads to open so I can make my way to Denver.

7. Pittsburgh has had 23 days above average this month
13 of those have been more than 10 degrees above average.

Nine of the next 10 days will be in the 50s.

It's just weird.

12. in KC?
We haven't gotten any snow this month - and they mentioned the 1886 factoid on the news this morning. We've gotten a little rain, but it hasn't been cold enough for snow.

here east of Tulsa. I'm very sure about this.
It might have been 3 weeks ago.

13. I drove through KC east to west on I- 70 yesterday heading home...
It was unseasonably warm, nay positively balmy for Dec. 30th, but I hit the front at Solomon (12 miles east of Salina).

The temp. dropped from 59 to 42 in 6 miles.

We do need the moisture, but I'm glad that we aren't getting what the folks in Garden City and Goodland are getting.... :wow:

We've talked in the past I think, but it's been quite awhile.

I post erratically when I'm home off the road.

:hi:

You're up in the KC area, right?

15. We live in Michigan. Hubby golfed yesterday.
Our gardening zone went up one, and we had a rainy Christmas. We had a bit of snow earlier this fall in October, but we haven't had any real stuff since. We're thinking of moving north.

29. Syracuse NY here, one of the snow capitals of US
Here is an article from 2003 http://www.usatoday.com/weather/resources/askjack/2003-10-01-snowiest-cities_x.htm We are number 4 of the snowiest cities. We have only had a dusting of snow twice this "winter" season. My poor roses are putting out bud leaves.

I hope we don't get our 115 inches of snow all at once.

33. I'm in KC and I just got back from walking my dog in a 2 t-shirts.
A long sleeved under a short sleeve. Hat was required too, but I never would have thought I would be walking the dog in t-shirts in December.

And I haven't been able to wear many sweaters at all because it's been getting into the mid-upper 50's most of December.
