Did anyone bring up Ford giving immunity to the Nam draft evaders ?

Many who found the war against their ideals went to canada as you know . I am not a Ford fan . He seemed to have done this in a way to satisfy his pardon of Nixen .

What are your thoughts , I have not heard anyone bring this up on the news , it may have been brought up here but there were too many Ford posts to search through .

1. Ford was also the first presodent to allow women to attend the military academies.

And he was fervently pro-choice.He spent part of his retirement working with aids related charities as well. Reagan called Ford a "liberal".

He tried to give amnesty with some time served in other ways. Didn't fly as I recall.

No bone was thrown toward them. Early release for good behavior or time served?

...not Ford. It happened in 1977.

6. ford had a program for limited clemency....

coupled by up to two years of service and other restrictions. Only a small fraction of draft evaders took him up on it. He did not, however, grant a general amnesty for draft evaders, that was Carter.
