We should stop funding the senators & pay them a minimum wage.
Our number one weapon against fascist/corporate politicians of all stripes is our money.

To them, we are merely vast herds of grazing consumers that they live off of, like vampire bats. They collect our taxes, fatten us up with feed, sacrifice our young, herd us into theaters and sports events, give us new gadgetry, entertain us into hypnosis, we are the livestock, they are the farmers.

They literally live off of us. They'd wither up and die and blow away without us. But like cattle, we see them coming and going, bringing us our feed, and we are mostly fat and happy, except the tiny few who figure out what it's all about, and always too late.

How can we stop them? How can we get through to them? How can we make them realize we're serious out here? The answer is in your wallet, your purse, your credit card, your bank account, they don't have blood in their veins, they have money, they live off of our money.

dick cheney loves money, and he'll do anything, any horrible thing, to get as much of it as he possibly can before he dies fat and happy, even though he knows he can't take it with him. Imagine dick's horror if suddenly his money was cut off, or taken away from him. Imagine his power suddenly gone, his life's blood cut off, imagine dick without power and money, I wonder if you can?

Somehow, some way, we need to cut off the money supply to these selfish monsters. A boycott? Maybe if it were done on specific days, or weeks so that the effects could be seen concretely, like a buy nothing day or week, or pay no taxes pledge, they can't imprison ALL of us, or even one million of us if we all refused to pay our taxes en masse.

I know, I'm daydreaming, but if we could make these pigs work for a minimum wage like we have to, they might understand. How long will we elect millionaires to lead us? How many more raises will they give themselves while we have to work for a lousy $7.50 and hour and act like we like it?

The Democrats are proposing cutting off the funding for bush's war, and that's exactly what we need to do with the Democrats and the republiks, cut off their funding, all of them, stop giving them trillions of our hard earned dollars to steal and use against us.

Your daily crackpot rant brought to you by Folgers coffee.

1. minimum wage, with no 'perks' allowed is a good idea, IMO.
the penalty for accepting gifts from lobbyists is immediate dismissal from office.

Running the government should not be fun, it should not be a money trough for those elected to serve. It is a civic job concerning the facilitation of the infrastructure. It should not be pleasant. People should not desire to seek another term. It should not be glamorous, and should not convey celebrity status.

It should, in short, be something like jury duty.

Nice rant, Philosoraptor. :-)

kicked and recommended.

2. Like jury duty! I love it.
I know the concept of cutting off their trillions is too bizarre for Americans to accept, it could eventually happen.

3. Nice idea, but
in order for it to work, you'd have to get those whose wages you're cutting to vote the cut.

And Folgers???????????? Man you gotta upgrade to a better brand.

5. If you want fewer millionaires in Congress
then you pass comprehensive campaign finance reform and shorten the campaign season. Then everyone, no matter how rich or poor, will be able to run for office without spending money and becoming beholden to monied interests.

I believe that running for public office was, at one time, looked upon as a sacrifice and noble duty to be the servant of the people. Too bad that these sentiments are no longer universally shared by those in power.
