You do know that whole thing was mistranslated. Kruschev was saying that communism would "outlive us" and not "bury us." Though the former catapulted the propaganda a lot better.

Plus, just a little bit of knowledge about the USSR will lead you to know that the Marxists fought vehemently against fascism. They felt, rightly I would argue, that fascism could only exist with a wealthy ruling class to support the oppression of the masses--something, if you understand ANYTHING about communism, that Kruschev and the other leaders of the USSR were greatly against. Bush is NOT a communist nor does he act like one. Saying so only makes you look ignorant.

Bush has said he will do what he wants whether Congress, the Soldiers, the Generals, the Senate, the American people, the Iraqi people, the rest of the world, his goldfish, his pet hamster, Barney the dog, and the guy who fixes his toilet agree with him or not. The American people voted for a change in Iraq policy and just to prove that the American People have no say in anything he went ahead and not only kept his policy the same but actually escalated it. We have gone through these low spots before and still come out stronger. Ironically, the McCarthy era was pretty shitty in this country (ironic, in case you didn't catch it, because it was a time of propogandistic fear of communists much like you put forth in your OP). Eventually that bullshit was flushed down the crapper and out freedoms increased and we were stronger than ever.

I have faith in the system that it will happen again. I love this country and I think there are enough other people who do too so that the fight isn't over.
