Truman Said: I told the truth and the Republicans thought it was hell
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 09:19 AM by The Whiskey Priest
What is now being decried as being political is nothing but a bit of truth. In the last five years Bush has not been in a public forum that included people that were willing to speak the truth.

Were the King’s subjects of illegal wiretaps? Yes!

Did we find WMD’s over there? No!

Have we cut funds for the poor? Yes!

If Bush and the republicans might think this is hell, it is only because they have not been out the in the free air where the truth abounds.

1. No one here doesn't believe it was the truth
Some question whether it was appropriate to air it at a funeral.

I'm not going to kneejerk on this one. Democrats can make boneheaded moves too.

2. Political Persuasion of course colors this response

But, I did not find any of the remarks by the speakers in question as offensive as the patronizing remarks by Bush-One.

His opening remarks made it clear that he was apart from those who had gathered for the memorial service. He came from better stock, circumstances and that he found it amusing.
Those remarks made by other orators, that are creating the furor, were stating a truth to a man sitting on the stage, a man who hides from the truth.

I feel that Ms King and Martin would have approved that action…they would have taken the moment if it presented itself to state clearly and forcefully a truth…they would not have been cowered by the setting.

3. good point
in comparison to Bush 1's remarks, those of Carter et al didn't *even* deserve the attention.
