Ewe can wrote to me
For the record, I careth not about the grammar and spelling police who have taken up residence on DU. While some choose to spend their time correcting others who perhaps do not know English as a first language, I elect to spend my time reading what is posted here. For me, the substance far out-weighs the delivery.

For years I've tried to live by the mantra: "Speak up... even if your voice shakes." Today I amend that to: "Speak up... even if your voice shakes. Post on... even if you commit a typo."

My fellow DUers, never let the small-minded stand in the way of big ideas. Post on.

After that, I'll just lie in bed and moan. LOL! I never knew how hard it was to drink when one side of your mouth is numb.

12. Just the beginning
This is the first of many rounds scheduled at the dentist's office. Ugh!

I've went for years without dental care because we couldn't afford it out of pocket, we had no insurance to cover it and because we were over the income levels for any reduced or free dental programs. Now I'll pay the price for that neglect.

I had the left side done today. The top right will be done next week... the bottom right the week afterward... and the biggie, the front, will follow. Still, I'm looking forward to it. I had a tooth break several years ago and I haven't felt comfortable smiling since. I'm looking forward to the day when I can smile without being so self-conscience.

5. I tease the grammar Nazis a lot
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 11:30 AM by Wilber_Stool
but I respect them. It's not so much grammar but proof reading that drives me nutz. I have had to stop reading a post because I just couldn't make heads or tails of it. I keep telling myself that I should collect some of the best but I never do.
On edit, these are the types of posts that get reposted on other boards to undermine our efforts.
Second edit: Look at that shit. Using effort twice in the same sentence so close together. Proof read my ass.

7. My name is Viva and I am a spelling/grammar/typo nazi...
I usually can keep myself from correcting others, but it's hard work!

I think it is rooted in years of self-education, thousands of books read. Actually, running across typos here doesn't bother me all that much, unless there are so many that it detracts from the purpose of the post. The ones that really irritate me are 'published' web pages, articles and such on news sites. That gets me ticked.

9. I can agree with you there
If you are a professional writer, you should take the time to re-read and edit before you hit that publish button. Here on DU and other message boards; however, I really don't mind grammar and spelling mistakes as long as I can understand the intent.
