I just saw a bumpersticker that said, "Cajuns for Kerry".

It made me sad.

That is all.

1. I've got one on the back of my pickup that says Rednecks for Kerry..
It really freaks out the RW nuts who can't understand how I can be a Democrat and drive a pickup.

:)

3. It IS sad, after Rita.
But I admit that it's also encouraging, at least to me.

I was in Ville Platte right before the Reagan-Carter election day.

My friend I was with was from there. He was for Carter. I, deluded idiot, was still a supporter of republicans, so I was for Reagan.

We went to the a small bar in Ville Platte. Everyone there (they all had Cajun accents) knew my friend. They were rather apologetic, but they told him they absolutely would not be voting for Carter. They wanted Reagan.

But now look... you say there was actually a bumper sticker that showed some Cajuns were for the democrat. Progress!

5. Thanks for making me think brighter thoughts
I believe that the purposeful destruction of New Orleans was in part to dilute the Dem voting block of NO into other areas where they would be easily absorbed by repubs.

If cajuns didn't vote Democratic en masse before Katrina, maybe they will be more inclined to vote Dem now, possibly off-setting the loss of the NO Democratic vote.

A long shot in wishful thinking, but I'm reaching for positive thoughts ;)

12. Truth be told, I think a LOT of the whites in N.O., St. Bernard,
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 10:22 PM by No Exit
and in the Cajun country will think long and hard b/f they vote republican again!

The media, and repukes in other states, always want to pretend it is just Blanco and Nagin who are to blame. But the people on the coast all the way to Mississippi, plus the Cajuns, all know EXACTLY who let them down at each stage of the post-hurricane fiasco in their particular region. For example, those police in St. Bernard Parish KNOW that it was FEMA-- a federal agency--that unhooked their radio receiver without telling them, and usurped it for FEMA's own use.

So those who went through this mess and are still going through it know exactly who is REALLY to blame. NOT just Blanco and Nagin, that's for sure!

And I really think they're going to wonder why they voted for this Chimp.

As for the blacks, well, I just hope for Chris Shays' sake that he doesn't have any black constituents. Because if he does, they are not going to be happy campers if they saw the vicious, hateful, way he treated that black hurricane VICTIM, "Mama D" (Dian French).

Oh, and be sure to take every chance to remind people that REPUBLICANS are the party of INSURANCE COMPANIES. Because thousands of hurricane victims are currently in the process of getting screwed by their insurance companies, to whom they paid premiums. Trent Lott is one of them!

7. Same here in the Detroit suburbs
Lots and lots of Kerry/Edwards stickers still on cars. I still see some W stickers, but not as many as Kerry.

8. Same here in SE PA.
W stickers once outnumbered Kerry stickers in my neighborhood. No more.

:toast:

(altho come to think of it we shouldn't toast anything, it is because things are so effed up that people are waking up. sigh.)

9. I only left the house for a little while today - made only two stops
and at each stop I parked next to a car with a Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker. It made my day. :)

10. IMO, everybody should be for Kerry!
I live in a nasty Republican part of PA, and I still find people who have Kerry bumber stickers on their cars.

11. My edit time has expired, so here is my edit:
Although I appreciate all of the pro-Kerry responses (I really do) my post had more to do with my saddness for Louisiana. People in LA voted for Kerry, doing everything that they could to escape the madman who would destroy them, to no avail. It may have been New Orleans that was murdered, but all of Louisiana is now being strangled by the administration.

My heart goes out to all in the Gulf Coast, especially those who knew enough to vote Kerry.
