Was Cheney Drunk? That would explain a lot.
It would also turn the accident into a crime.

2. I have been wondering that myself
I can't see why anyone would shoot behind them, the birds would flee and you would be following them. Also I am not a hunter but my dad was. Isn't it safe to approach from
behind but not in front of the hunter.

3. Do you have any evidence that he was drunk?
Or is this just speculation?

9. Well, they were hunting...
I thought that's what good-ol-boys do when they hunt.

13. Ah. Why?
Or, to be more precise, why this as opposed to "Maybe Cheney and this lawyer got talking about fund raising, tempers flared and a gun went off?"

19. Lucky for us both I don't take orders from you.
Try reading around before posting dupe threads. The thread police are everywhere, and they are extremely intolerant, especially regarding this Cheney shooting matter. :D

5. Nah.
I think he's in poor health, was out of breath, stumbled and his gun went off. From reports, the group had moved to another area to locate another group of quail. Can't imagine the guy can walk very far without getting winded.

7. I would assume so... it's the kind of man he is.
Doesn't he have 2 DUIs? A man with no reservations about driving drunk probably goes hunting drunk as well.

How else could shooting 70 tame quail on the ground be any fun?

Never mind, don't answer that.

20. Where was the police or sheriff?
If this had occurred with an average American or with a movie star, a sports figure, with a priest or with anyone else the police and sheriff would have seized and impounded the shotgun, taken witness statements from everyone, and searched the shooter's body and vehicle. Blood tests or breathalyzer tests would probably have been performed at the slightest possibility of alcohol or drugs being involved. The police or sheriff would have already been interviewed on television as to the circumstances of the shooting. Here, I'm not even sure it's been confirmed that the police or sheriff even got involved at all or whether Cheney is allowed to police himself.

Can you imagine Mike Tyson or Kobe Bryant being involved in an "accidental" shooting? Or Robert Downey, Jr.? Or Courtney Love? Those celebrities have histories of trouble with the law. So does DUI Dick Cheney.
