About that 365 mil powerball last night.
Anyone ever do a study or investigation into the political affiliation of the big jackpot winners? Just an idle thought wandering through early Sunday morning.

1. No, but they do seem to be overrepresented
in the heartland, with few winners on either coast (dunno if that's because the costs do Lotto or Megabucks or some other variation). This time it's somebody in Nebraska.

2. Exactly my thoughts of late. . .
after knowing how elections were stolen electronically in 2000/2004.

What an easy fraud to rake in the money with high hopes then rig the results to the inner circle of relatives/friends.

Lottery fraud is a scandal waiting to be blown wide open, fledgling reporters. . .where are ya'll?

Better yet

compare all lottery commissioners' political affiliations to determine any fraud.

Once again, if this hunch proves to be true in many states, again the rat bastard thieves are exploiting the masses' emotions by dangling them on the line of FEAR and GREED.

:grr:

5. Lottery tickets are bought anonymously.
They have no way of knowing your political affiliation ahead of time.

10. There's nothing that says the numbers they bought have to
Edited on Sun Feb-19-06 11:47 PM by cornermouse
remain anonymous after purchase, if you know what I mean. Not necessarily saying it is rigged, just an early Sunday morning speculation saying that if they wanted to, it would be remarkably easy to do.

6. Nobody addresses the real issue.
The fact that the majority of the people who play the lotto can't afford to. That low income people have a tendency to overspend and waste what little cash they have on buying tickets instead of spending that money on their kids. We have an ongoing joke here in South Carolina:

What has 6 balls and f*cks rednecks....... The Lotto.

7. Yeah, but
that is their choice. We are not in the business of telling people how to live their personal lives.

8. sure we are.
last night, i flipped to olympic coverage for a moment. the local sponsor for this time slot was...the colorado state lottery. as if the machines and displays in every convenience store wasn't enough advertising, or the 300 million dollar jackpots, they need to buy expensive advertising during one of the biggest television events watched by the slothful masses?

9. What's your point?
How does that force people to live one way or another?

Besides, I was talking about progressives, not society in general. sorry if I was unclear.

12. i have no problems with state lotteries-
if people want to pool their money to buy one of them out of poverty, more power to them...it's a free country(in theory anyway).
