MSNBC poll: 65% say the Cheney shooting investigation should be dropped.

Since when is the victim "moving on" reason to drop an investigation? If John Jones had shot Bob Smith you can bet the cops would be looking into the story discrepancies.

Still a live poll. DU it!

3. I come closer to giving up every day.
Each time I see something like this, it becomes a bit more tempting to say "Why bother?". We truly are dealing with a Nation of of sheep all too happy with their lot. Perhaps they deserve nothing more. Perhaps it is time I look to myself, pack my bags & see to my own sanity.

17. It isn't a scientific poll - Just a bunch of freeps clicking over and over
These polls aren't regulated in any way -- you can vote over and over and over if you know the tricks.

6. I heard his press conference and Harry seemed kind of strange.
First the date thing, Harry saying Friday when everyone else is saying the shooting happened Saturday. Then the way he told the press they were doing a good job. Sort of like saying keep digging boys, there's more here than meets the eye. So he didn't seem like he was ready to move on to me.

But if most people want to forget that the Vice President of the United States of America was drinking beer then went hunting with women not his wife and "accidental" shot a friend in the chest and face at close range. Well I can understand why people want to forgot about it. :sarcasm:

7. Cheney sounds just like a drunk driver caught in the act
I only had one or two beers, officer. Who believes that?

Let's all feel sorry for Cheney. He has perpetrator PTSD. Sheesh!

Handling a firearm after drinking is a crime.

11. It might as well be dropped. Cheney isn't being held
responsible for getting us into a war, why the hell should we think he'll be held responsible for a shooting? We know he was drunk, but like a crafty drunk driver who evades police and hides out until he sobers up, he'll get a slap on the wrist at best. It might be time to refocus on the war, Medicare drug plan, selling out of ports, shredding of the Constitution, lack of health care, etc., etc., etc.

13. I'm sick to death of hearing about it too.
So Cheney drinks too much, screws around on his wife, and shoots defenseless quail and old men. I'd rather that the press concentrated on his other talents. Like instructing his right hand man to leak the name of a CIA operative to punish her husband. I'd much rather be reading about that.

16. joey buttafuco's wife wanted to move on, too.
after being shot in the head.

hmmm...maybe there is a parallel.

reminds me of when we discussed electroshock treatments in psych class. The prof said it had a large success rate against depression. I pointed out: well, if someone said to me you'll get more volts charging through your body unless you cheer up, I'll cheer up.

18. media didn't ask the right questions
the questions they were concerned about were self serving, as far as--why weren't WE (the media) told about this sooner. They never had any concerns about if Cheney broke the law or was drunk during the "accident." That is why the issue is closed now.

Should Harry Whittington's statement about the shooting accident put an end to the controversy over how Vice President Dick Cheney handled it? * 54938 responses

Yes, Whittington appears to be ready to move on, so everyone else should too.
64%

No, remaining questions, including the delay in publicizing the accident, should be investigated.
36%

25. Gee whiz.. Let's drop it, then
Goodness knows that "what the people want" is what the people must get:eyes:

What a mess the "media" has become.. They apparently now cover "news" based on what a bunch of poll-takers tell them to do..:eyes:

and YET..

every poll I have seen tells them that the public does NOT want the "missing-blonde-girl-of-the-week" story told hour after hour, day after day...and they still run with those stories..
