Poll question: Will CIA or military stop terrorist attack planned to sell Iran War?

Last summer, the American Conservative got a Pentagon leak that Cheney ordered them to draw up plans for nuclear and conventional strikes on Iran in response to a terrorist attack, whether or not Iran was responsible.

If one is in the works and it's a MIHOP, would someone in the CIA or military monkeywrench it or blow the whistle?

But I'd say that if we lived in world where all this were possible, than expecting the CIA and Army to stop it would be unlikely at best.

There was no conceivable way any group could benefit from 9/11. The only possible result would be the same as a nuclear attack here--overwhelming retaliation.

And yet it happened.

You can either say a whole ethnic group and/or religion has a death wish or look at who actually benefited.

So what you are saying is that al-Qaeda had no reason to do 9/11 (despite claiming they did), so it must have been PNAC and President Bush?

This is, of course, the standard argument in favor of MIHOP, but it's interesting to see it reduced to absurdity.

Sometimes when people throw out pithy, dismissive comments like you started with, they look more like PR posters, the astroturf of discussion boards, just as exists with PR firm generated blogs. I've gotten into cycles of arguing with them where they respond with nothing but catchphrases and refuse to acknowledge let alone rebut any evidence.

Your later post arguing for incompetence, while I disagree with it, at least shows a level of thought and engagement that they don't.
