All Holloway all the time. A rant.
I have been really busy with a new job, and I hear on NPR all the awfull things going on in Iraq on the way home. Come home and flip on the cable, and what is on TWO networks?

Natalee Holloway. Two networks. One interviewing a chaperone who does not want to be called a chaperone, and CNN with the Larry King smarmfest.

There are men and women serving this country with people who ache missing them in the clusterfuck that is this war, and civil war to begin soon, and they have to listen to this shit? She has been gone for almost a year. They cannot get any news because Holloway is taking up the resources and time of two freaking networks.

Someone needs to tell the Holloways to let it go; or actually get on the air and let us go. Go on the air and tell them they will not do any more interviews, crying jags, wimpering, and finger pointing. Enough already.

But they won't. They know that they can have their 15 minutes, Hell 15 months for Christ's sake, and give a collective FU to the people who want information about their kids serving, and possibly maybe just more than a 30 second mention of what is really going on.

Things are going from worse to shit hole over there, and the Holloways have their own two networks.

1. it's the media's fault, not the Holloways
I don't fault the family for doing everything they can to keep their daughter news; I do fault the media for exploiting their agony. And, I do not know ANYONE who follows this tabloid stuff.

7. Everything? They are like crack addicts.
So they have the media for 1 month, then two, three, then four, so where does this go? Pre-empt everything for a person missing coming up on a year?

It's not exactly a slow news week, but the Holloways have the story and know they can get in a network studio with a drooling imbecile interviewer easier than ordering at Pizza Hut.

I would like once, just once, someone ask the Holloway mouthpiece of the moment on the air what she thinks about the moms and dads who have kids serving who may never come back, and it isn't because they were not carefull on a vacation/casino/bender/Dutch guy pickup of the night.

10. "Dutch guy pickup of the night"
That's a very revealing comment--and not in a good way.

15. It's reminiscent of the old "she got herself raped" business.
I hope that's not what you meant.

16. How did getting picked up by a Dutch guy turn into "she asked for it?"

17. I did not say I agree with their actions
I'm just saying their anguish and grief is being exploited for tabloid news

2. I'm really sorry for this mother's loss, but I think this little girl is
truly lost and no amount of tv programs are going to bring her back.

3. Bread and circuses. Keep the masses preoccupied.
Though for the life of me I can't imagine why anybody would care enough by now to pay any attention to this story. (And the other thing I can't figure out is how anyone can stand to watch, or especially listen to, Rita Cosby.)

11. Of couse, the Holloway remoras for the networks.
Corporate owned networks do not want to do real stories, and the Holloways fit the bill for camera time to fill in all that they do not want to report.

It's the staggering repugnance of it all though. These parents. Do they ever think that they are making people actively sick when they even hear their name? Sick because of the time that has passed, and they still are on the air. What do they think would dislodge them? Would all out war with Iran dislodge Holloway?

Not likely, the parents really are beyond shame, and the networks never heard the word.

4. TOTALLY agree with you.
Mentioned this in my thread earlier tonight. You are so on the mark. Please, please forward your excellently worded post to both networks and let them know that this is a concern for many of us.

5. The only place I ever hear about this story anymore is at DU.
Some people here seem to be every bit as obsessed with it as they allege the lumpen tabloid-tv-viewing masses to be.

Besides, do you honestly think that Beth Twilley is the sole, or even a significant, reason why the corporate media in this country do such a shitty job? Is her power really that great? Why do some DUers still, months after her daughter's disappearance, get such an almighty charge out of assailing her here? Yeah, she needs to let go, but that's much easier to say than to do.

12. Obviously you do not own a remote, and have channel surfed.
The most casual observer of televsion tonight would find Holloway on three possibly four networks.

14. No. Since I consider tv shitty corporate garbage, I don't watch it.
No cable here. Shocking, I know, but I manage to stay informed via the net and avoid the stuff that seems to keep people here inordinately outraged.

19. It was just on Wednesday night
Entertainment Tonight or one of the news broadcasts on the major networks. "Just released" footage of her and one of the major suspects in a casino, etc, etc.

It's pabulum for the Right Wing, so they don't have to focus on the real problems going on here in the US. Like how their revered Leader led us into an illegal war, got us into trillions in debt, lied about thousands of things, is now trying to sell several of our ports to a foreign power, and so on.

21. Don't watch Teeee-Veeee much, eh?
Hey, that's great, but obviously you never watch FAUX Nooz, Nancy "Never met a MAN who wasn't GUILTY" Grace, and Rita "Gasper the Friendly Ghost" Crosby.
Oh, and Larry "Papa Ho" King, too.....

It's Bread and Circusses.

I think not! Don't get me wrong, I feel for her family and all, but what about all the others!

18. What happened is unfortunate
and I understand the family's greif, but the media is absolutely disgusting in the way they have played this.

All three networks seem as bad as the next on this - CNN has Larry King, MSNBC has that hoarse voiced EXTREMELY irritating Rita Crosby, and FOX has Greta...

20. How many thousands and thousands
of individuals have gone missing or have actually been killed since Beth Holloway hijacked the networks. She's a pain in the ass. A person has the gall to think they can dictate to other countries who they should and should not let in their countries because she is sure three uncharged boys committed a murder.

She's had everybody but the Marines and the Air Force involved in the search. What about all the other thousands who get shit for coverage on their lost loved ones. And she has the aire about her that she is the only thing that's important and the entire world should be concentrating on Natalie Holloway.

I have long believed with every bone in my body Natalie wanted to get as far away from her possessive controlling mother as she could and Aruba provided her the opportunity to escape. Little did I know it would be confirmed tonight on Prime Time.

Natalie told Joran her mother was the sister of Hitler. HA HA HA I knew it. Good for you Natalie. Enjoy your life wherever you are. :toast:
