'Daily Show' humor befuddles governor Rod Blagojevich
ST. LOUIS, Missouri (AP) -- Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich wasn't in on the joke.

Blagojevich says he didn't realize "The Daily Show" was a comedy spoof of the news when he sat down for an interview that ended up poking fun at the sometimes-puzzled governor.

"It was going to be an interview on contraceptives ... that's all I knew about it," Blagojevich laughingly told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in a story for Thursday's editions. "I had no idea I was going to be asked if I was 'the gay governor.' "

This proves that there are still morons out there. Didn't know Daily Show is a comedy show?

1. I always wonder how much they tell their 'victim' up-front?
Or how much they edit to make the victim look stupid?

Some of it HAS to be real and this confirms it.

3. Anyone consenting to an interview......
should take it upon themselves to do cursory research of whom is interviewing them. I think most people are so eager for their "15 minutes of fame" that they ignore the details, and as we all know, the devil's in the details. Anyone with half a brain would find out who TDS "news-people" are before the interview. This just supports my hypothesis that a majority of Americans go through life using only half their brain, at best.

5. True
I don't expect a governor to know every TV personality out there but it seems odd that none of their staff would know who these people were either.

I'm glad he has a sense of humor about it though.

4. I've always wondered about this.
They can't be going into an interview blind. When they interview a politician of any kind, that politician surely has people who set interviews up for them. Those people surely ask things like "what network are you with?" and an answer of "Comedy Central" should be a big heads up. Still, time after time (and especially on Colbert) you see these politicians who obviously had no idea what they were getting into.

The Daily Show and Colbert Report obviously do a fair amount of editing (and I've seen them admit as much) but I don't think you can edit together any interview to make the interviewee seem obviously not in on the joke. Unless of course they weren't in on the joke.

7. Funny how many in that party seem to really be out of it
It is like they live in another time zone. You always get the feeling that Dem. know what is going on. I think it has to do with this basic thinking that they are just born to rule thing. Then the far right church people also think that is a good way to run a country. You know Bush is made to rule. These are the same people that let these crazy heads of churches tell them what to do. It all seems so un-Am. to me. I can recall people being worried that the Pope would rule Kennedy from Rome and now we have people willing to let the country be ruled by a tent show. It is beyond my thinking.
