"Where do we get such men?"
The last line from one of the finest war films ever made... "The Bridges at Toko-Ri".

Yet, instead of choosing men like that to run our country, we choose a bunch of cowardly chickenhawks.

And people wonder whats' wrong.

1. We didn't choose them
They stole their jobs.

Never forget that.

4. I don't disagree, but that's not my point.
How could slimeballs like Bush and Cheney get enough legitimate votes to get close enough to do their dirty work with voting machines, the SCOTUS, etc?

Or, put another way, why are there so many stupid Americans?

6. Oh, THAT's a whole different matter
High-fructose corn syrup, all those cable channels, and the Internet.

That's why.

9. On a similar note--
Where are all the great actors and meaningful stories like those from the 40's, 50's and 60's. No more William Holdens or Frederick Marches, thats for sure. "Bridges" is one of my all time favorites.

10. Holden and March.
"No more William Holdens or Frederick Marches, thats for sure."

They were wonderful actors, perfectly cast in that film. But we are no longer in the golden age of war movies. The movies from WWII and Korea were wonderful, but they always portrayed US soldiers as heroes.

Vietnam changed all that.

Wouldn't you agree that Martin Sheen and Marlon Brando were also perfectly cast in "Apocalypse Now"? Dunno about you, but I consider that film also a great one.

There is no shortage of great male actors today. DeNiro, Pacino, Eastwood, Hackman and younger guys like Kevin Bacon, Matt Damon, and Sean Penn are all great actors... the list is long.
