Woman Questions DCF Official's Relationship With Ex-Husband

POSTED: 5:51 pm EST March 1, 2006
UPDATED: 6:24 pm EST March 1, 2006

A mother in Brevard County, Fla., who had her children taken away by the Department of Children and Families claims her rights were violated when a worker in the case had an improper affair with her ex-husband, who eventually gained full custody of the kids, according to a Local 6 News report.

The report featured a woman who hoped DCF worker Karen Locke would help her battle alcohol addition and keep her family together in a time of trouble.

"She claimed to want to help me," said the woman who wished to remain anonymous. "She wanted to help me get my kids back."

But the woman began to suspect something was not right at DCF.
......
......
"Now, an inspector general investigation confirms how strong that connection was, finding Locke had an inappropriate relationship with the ex-husband and told co-workers of their sex life while DCF was still overseeing the family's case," Problem Solver Tony Pipitone said.

2. That is an ETHICAL breech
Having an affair with a client's STBX is a violation of professional ethics. No doubt about it, caseworker should have her ass fired!

3. Why does this not surprise me that this is in Florida?
Are there any happy, healthy children and families in Florida? I realize there must be but... DAMN!... Florida has some major issues in this area.
