DNC presents James Dobson's greatest "hits" with links.
First they discuss the letter from Alito to Dobson, then they show James Dobson up for what he really is. I notice they left out the one about beating his little chihuahua unmercifully. Will need to find that link.

http://www.democrats.org/a/2006/03/justice_alito_t.php

Here are some of the greatest hits from Samuel Alito's valentine:

-- James Dobson comparing stem cell research to human experimentation in Nazi concentration camps -- http://mediamatters.org/items/200508030007

-- James Dobson explaining that SpongeBob Square Pants is pro-homosexual propaganda -- http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6852828/

-- James Dobson comparing the men in black robes (the Supreme Court) to people who used to wear white robes (the KKK) --
http://mediamatters.org/items/200505250005

-- James Dobson after the 9/11 attacks: "e need to accept the truth that this nation will suffer in many ways for departing from the principles of righteousness. 'The wages of sin is death,' as it says in Romans 6, both for individuals and for entire cultures." -- http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=4257#4

-- James Dobson even wrote a treatise on how fathers can cure their children of homosexuality, including the following tips: "He can teach him to pound a square wooden peg into a square hole in a pegboard. He can even take his son with him into the shower, where the boy cannot help but notice that Dad has a penis, just like his, only bigger."

Unfortunately, it's people like James Dobson that pull the strings in the Republican Party and end up getting notes of thanks from recently confirmed Supreme Court Justices.

10. Wrong
I don't know where you got this list, but in my reality, neither Massachusetts senator voted for cloture on Alito. I paid attention because they're my senators. (I didn't bother to call their offices, because I was pretty sure of how they would vote. Instead I tried to sway the Maine and Rhode Island Repukes.)

Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 03:02 PM by madfloridian
This is not for the faint of heart.

http://www.geocities.com/cddugan/DobsonsDog.html

DOBSON:'What developed next is impossible to describe. That tiny dog and I had the most vicious fight ever staged between man and beast. I fought him up one wall and down the other, with both of us scratching and clawing and growling and swinging the belt. I am embarrassed by the memory of the entire scene. Inch by inch I moved him toward the family room and his bed. As a final desperate maneuver, Siggie backed into the corner for one last snarling stand. I eventually got him to bed, only because I outweighed him 200 to 12!"

Commentator: This is one sick puppy, and I don't mean the dog, either. Dobson is OBSESSED with control. I suspect that this stems from the punitive upbringing he endured as a young child (and which he now praises, with unintended irony, for making him what he is today). Now that he is a grownup, and too old to spank, he is determined to get everything HIS way, by golly! He is a 200 pound, verbally articulate version of the "strong-willed" toddlers whom he always exhorts parents to whip into submission "with a belt or switch" because "pain is a marvelous purifier." Dobson is walking proof of how just how badly a spanked child can turn out. The fact that parents like this exist in the world is an excellent argument for why all forms of corporal punishment should be abolished forthwith.

Commentator: Just in case the more slow-witted among his readers fail to grasp the obvious parallel between his relationship with his dog and the type of parenting advice the man as become rich and famous by dispensing, Dobson then lays it explicitly on the line:

DOBSON: "But this is not a book about the discipline of dogs; there is an important moral to my story that is highly relevant to the world of children. Just as surely as a dog will occasionally challenge the authority of his leaders, so will a little child -- only more so." (emphasis Dobson's)

From the book called The Strong Willed Child.
