Fuck Michael Brown.
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 07:56 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
I don't give a rats ass what he's saying or doing NOW. Little too late don't ya think?

It shouldn't be so easy to forget how criminally incompetent and irresponsible he was merely because he says a couple of sound bites that we like.

He Can Go Fuck Himself.

5. I think there's a bit more to it than that...

I think he was basically set up. He's no hero of mine, but pointing the finger at him and ignoring the rats that orchestrated the whole non-response is a bit naive. To his credit, he is exposing the Bush admin's negligence. Besides that, the recorded meetings that were just released showed Brown doing his best to convince our fucked-up president what was about to happen.

So, maybe there are some other things here to consider besides your anger at MB??

11. Yeah, this is the world's oldest blame deal
always find a lower level guy to blame it on.

Look, I don't have any real sympathy for Brownie, but he did get screwed, as the video with Bush now reveals. Let's gang up against Bush, give him everything we've got. He's the REAL bad guy.

Look, Brownie is still a joke but like Lindie England, he has become a scapegoat.

Bush Inc is whom we're after. Let's get those BUSH BASTARDS!!!

9. Hes playing both sides
Hes telling everyone it wasnt his fault. To incompetent-conservative crowds he says it Chertikoffs fault. To Dems, he blames the bush.

Hes your typical Washington player who looks out for himself.

10. Criminal negligence
While he was head of FEMA, thousands died as a result of his failure to provide help after Katrina hit. The asshole belongs in prison!

Bush and Chertoff, not interested.

I was shocked by it.

Brownie is no hero - Yes Brownie was incompetent and in over his head -- but it appears he warned them of how bad it was gonna be and nobody listened to him, or apparently helped him either.

I've never really done as much of a 180 on anyone as I have on Brownie.

He was tryin' to do a heckofajob, but his bosses were not listening.

16. I can never forget or forgive this e-mail exchange
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 08:45 PM by Dudley_DUright
at the height of the storm:

On August 29, the day of the storm, Brown exchanged e-mails about his attire with Taylor, Melancon said. She told him, "You look fabulous," and Brown replied, "I got it at Nordstroms. ... Are you proud of me?"

An hour later, Brown added: "If you'll look at my lovely FEMA attire, you'll really vomit. I am a fashion god," according to the congressman.

or worse yet this one:

The Democratic lawmaker cited several e-mails that he said show Brown's failures. In one, as employees looked for direction and support on the ravaged Gulf Coast, Brown offered to "tweak" the federal response.

Two days after Katrina hit, Marty Bahamonde, one of the only FEMA employees in New Orleans, wrote to Brown that "the situation is past critical" and listed problems including many people near death and food and water running out at the Superdome.

Brown's entire response was: "Thanks for the update. Anything specific I need to do or tweak?"

17. All well and good,,,,,,
but it is starting to look like that of the three--Brown, Chertoff, and Dubai--Brown is looking like the only one that really gave a shit, and might have been the smartest one of the three, to boot. Scary thought, eh?

He was much more competant than originally thought.

My opinion of him has changed.

I think he was in a futile situation.

23. Agreed. Too little. Too late.
Instead of sending those incriminating e-mails six months ago, he should have been raving up and down to the media, supporting Nagin and Landrieu, telling people he was being stiffed, and Washington was not going to help. But no, he's going to wait 6 months later. What makes him think we believe him now?

24. Brown
is/was an incompetant, unqualified hack - a complete fuckin moron.

But this should go all the way to the top. He seems to have been screwed. It seems that by the likes of the tape, he sort of understood how disasterous the situation would get.

That doesn't excuse him (his emails about clothes especially show how callous, superficial, and out of touch he was), but at the minimum Chertoff should have been forced out over this (just as Rummy should have been forced out after Abu Ghraib).

Of course, it all goes to the top, and Bush is the one that faces most responsibility over Katrina. Those pics of him eating cake and strummin' away on a guitar should piss off any sane American.
