"At Least they make the trains run on time"
Bruce Bartlett, very Conservative, said this about Conservatives last night on TDS. Jon was very quick and pointed out the fascist Mussolini said that very thing and as a side note I doubt if it is true anyway. Jon was very gracious and only skewered him lightly. He let him dig his own hole. He wrote a book Skewering Bush* and calls him an Impostor. Republicans are being left stumbling over their words because the proof of their ideology is in the pudding. It just plain don't work and they are terrified they are going to lose everything and are trying to blame it all on Bush*. Kind of funny actually. I found the remark about the trains to be very telling.

1. They're the party of Infrastructure Destruction.
They would like to get rid of all passenger trains...

It IS telling that they can't even come up with a single honest thing to say about the party! (Party of Help Yourself, Because We Won't; Party of Make Grandma Pay Through The Nose for Her Heart Pills... etc)

2. I've read that Mossolini and Hitler didn't really make the trains..
run on time. But who would complain? Maybe the cattle cars ran on time. Here, we're seeing Amtrak go under, so our own fascists haven't got that traditional claim.
And I also see the conservatives blaming Bush, saying that he betrayed their ideals, which would have worked if properly implemented. Repug representatives will distance themselves from Bush, and they probably can because the Democrats have been so sheepish, cowed, and poll-driven in their own opposition for so long.
Still, I do hope that Repugs and DINOs can't get off Bush's coattails when he sinks to the bottom of the sea.

3. well I know that to be wrong also.. my daughter had the
opportunity to take a train (Amtrak) from Southern California to Portland Oregon, what was suppose to be a 29 hour ride took over 2 days, that was in November last year and just recently she went from northern Ohio to western Maryland and that was suppose to be a 9.5 hour ride turned into about 15. So they can't even say that truthfully!

get off the hook. they dont get to all of a sudden say bush is a fuck up,.... seee how clever we are, see how we will admit it once realized

there was facts bush was a fuck up all the way to 2000. and certainly more than enough during 2004. we had been saying bush is a fuck up for a good three years prior to 2004 and yet.......repugs still backed, hoped prayed bush would not fuck up anymore. well.... since, bush has continually and consistantly fucked up. they didnt discover bush was a fuck up. we did.... a long long time ago

5. He also wanted to blame Bush only for all the excessive spending.
Is he nuts? Bush didn't force the Republican party into the massive pork spending they love so much. They did that themselves. It's a point he seemed to ignore. The massive spending is the fault of the entire Repug party and not just Bush.

7. His comment was Bush* has not cast a single Veto
So it is all Bush*'s fault. Disregarding the fact that Republicans wrote the Bills and controlled the spending while Democrats howled and were not even allowed in the room the bills were discussed in.

10. That doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate the fissures spreading
among the republicans.

If the old fashioned conservatives can be split from the neo-cons, great. It's the neo-cons that are flat-out fascists. The conservatives are only dangerous in their willingness to be used by the fascists.

Exploit the divisions.

6. Did you see when Bartlett said that the Gov shouldn't welfare
to American Citizens?

So that got me to thinking, this is one of their main agenda items that they have been screaming about..Welfare Government...

Well, if every American has paid, is paying or will pay FICA and they want the money back via Social Security, Medicaid etc....then it's not welfare is it?

Now lets say * were to get his way and naturalize all of the illegal people in this country that would enable them to collect from our "Tax Money coffers", without having really paid into the system, (This would be welfare in a sense, wouldn't it?)

Now look at the Corporations who are getting huge tax breaks, huge sums of money of tax payer money and yet they take their businesses off shore to avoid paying taxes....(This would be welfare right?)

This is an angle that needs to be exploited by the Dems every chance we can get...

8. The last batch of fascist madmen actually accomplished that
This batch of fascist madmen can't even manage an on time rail system. In fact, they've cut subsidies to rail transport, the cheapest and most energy efficient form of freight transport, in favor or more highway funds.

Damned few people, even the ones who drink poisoned Koolaid and like it, can point to any successes from this bunch beyond, "They got rid of SADDAM!"

We may be lucky this time. Their total incompetence may do them in before they get to come to full potential as human monsters.

13. it was as if an early birthday present had fallen into Jon's lap!
I was watching his facial expressions in the moments after Bartlett uttered that sentence. Jon's fast on the uptake, but the irony of that little gem even left him amazed!
