He's hosting the Springer show right now.

1. Hackett is great, but he needs to stop interrupting...

his guests. I think it has to do with exuberance. He really seems to dig radio. Good for him!

2. I might actually go back to AAR for the morning
if Springer leaves. I just don't like him, and listen to Stephanie Miller instead.

5. Goldberg is gone now...(AAR Exec making the calls)
so now's the time to get them to resurrect Morning Sedition (like Mark Riley but without Marc Maron, he seems absolutely lost and his show is BORING) and do something about Springer's show!

6. He's thought provoking, up-to-date on the issues, outspoken...
and rankles to no end, the DLC (so while he may have centrist views on some issues, he certainly doesn't come across as a DINO). I don't have to agree with any host on everything.

Springer gets the RWers listening because they know he'll take their calls, apologize for his views--so as not to insult THEM ()--and they can run all over him. I certainly don't see Hackett taking their crap, but I bet many WOULD listen to him.

11. I will repeat. Paul Hackett is Not a Progressive. He is more in tune
with the Dinos that you seem to abhor, except that he is more outspoken then they are.

As to the DLC.... Rep Sherrod Brown who is running for Senate in Ohio is a Progressive and I am delighted that Paul Hackett bowed out.

BTW... I would much prefer someone like Thom Hartmann (whom I love) to take over for Springer as I am not thrilled with Springer either.

13. I'd tale Hartman in a heartbeat as well...
but that wasn't the choice presented. As for Sherrod Brown, all indications are that he's a good guy and would make an outstanding Senator.

I'm not saying I'd vote for Hackett, but I'd have no problem listening to him on a radio show now and then...shrug:

7. I tune in to Jerry Springer for a few minutes every morning...
on my drive to work hoping there might be something worthwhile on... only to quickly flip back to a music channel or pop in a CD. It's like stream of consciousness babbling most of the time.

8. I'd prefer Jay Marvin.
I'm cool to Springer but I had to turn Hacket off this morning. He sounds like Malloy without the sincerity.

9. Jay Marvin fills in for Ed Schultz a lot too
I really like Jay, but I'm lukewarm about Ed. In the Boston market, we hear him from 3-6 instead of Randi Rhodes, who's on from 6-10. I'd prefer to have Randi at drive time (or in my case, train time), as her style and belief system are more in line with Northeast Democrats.

10. We've got Ed squatting in Randi's slot in Chicago, too. Randi on delay.
Jay worked out of Chicago's WLS as the token liberal for a number of years. He's much better out of Colorado-- I don't think he the same pressure to "behave" like he had here.
