Can any Freepers help me do my math…

The GOP and it followers love to talk about the ‘ownership society’ they say we need to save for emergencies, retirement and now health care. 20 % seems to be the de facto standard for each of these savings. So let me get this straight I have to save 20 % for emergencies, 20 % for retirement and 20 % for health care.

That is 60 % of my income before I even pay one bill.

Please tell me how this is done, any NASCAR and Security moms out there?

2. don't forget the 60% for the mortgage, once the interest only
portion of the refi loan has ellasped!

Oh, when you get a serious answer from a freep - ask them how much more in taxes they are willing to pay to fund this border wall, and extra security to "seal the borders"?

:hi: from another blue hoosier!

4. Hello? Welcome to DU. Just for the record-I am a Nascar Mom
that is also very much a life-long Democrat.
:hi:

Oh BTW, I don't know the answer to your question as I only have a token savings-no health care insurance and do not own my own home since I had to file bankruptcy several years ago.

8. Hello Carolina Lady
I've been a Bobby Labonte Fan for 10 years now. I always set aside a few bucks each year for the latest paraphernalia. I had to switch all my 18 stuff to 43 stuff this year, now that was an expense.

5. Its easy when you make $500K a year
That leaves you $150K to live on. Come on, you can manage that!

But heres a word problem for you:

If over the next 10 years, the US spends 1 Trillion dollars to get 112 Billion barrels of oil out of Iraq, while the average price per barrel is $79 and Exxon can refine 17 gallons of unleaded gas per barrel while increasing profits 48% per quarter, how much does it cost a soccer mom to drive 6 miles in an SUV that gets 11 miles per gallon to save 87cents on a pair of socks at Wal-Mart?

6. Let me attempt to provide you with what you want - freeper advice
Deficits do not matter, cheney said so, therefore just go heavily into debt. No big deal. "Conservative" money management brought to you by a wacky liberal NASCAR fan.

10. You're not supposed to try and make sense of it.
You should only feel guilty that you haven't been responsible enough or worked hard enough and that frittered away your retirement, health care and personal savings by living beyond your means. Try to be more like our dear leader in the future. :sarcasm:

11. The bigger question...shouldn't our government reflex these same value?
If GOP followers agree that they need to take responsibility for saving...then why is the GOP run government in such financial turmoil?
