Dems win special election in GOP district (first time in 40-plus years)
Democrat Shawn Flaherty narrowly won a special election for the state house seat in the 30th district, beating Republican Mike Dolan 5,545 to 5,437 votes. It will be the first time in more than 40 years that the district will be represented by a Democrat.

I've been watching the State Leg. races this year in lots of special elections and Dems have won almost all of them--including ones in districts which lean republican. This is a very good sign for us.

8. So I guess there's nothing to stop Mr Dolan from shipping out to Iraq.
He's a strapping lad of 26, and since he's GOP, he must feel the invasion is a good thing.

18. Every election like this helps us
Liberals elitists ask why bother running in down-ticket races in red strongholds. They ask how can we possible make a difference. Well, it made a difference to the people of the 30th district of the the great state of PA.
